Title: Cheap flights - not
Post by: bewva on May 05, 2013, 23:08:39 PM
I am looking for flights for August. :(
I couldn't book earlier for various reasons and we are having to travel on different dates due to various commitments.
Prices are varying between £389 & £439 for the flights we want.
So it looks like I will end up paying about £1600. >:(

This year has got to be the most expensive flights I have seen in 10 years.
I paid £350 each for the May bank holiday.

I would but I have 'free' accommodation in Turkey so it probably still works out cheaper and as as a family of 4 we are coming and going at different times so it makes it difficult.
Its just the flight prices are a complete rip off.

Last year I found flights to Dalaman for £276 each for our dates. I widened my search and found 4 flights to Portugal for £278 total for the 4 of us. We went to Portugal.

I fully understand the free accommodation thinking Paul and lived by it for a while. But it's wrong  :)

I have had a good look around on a few websites and I am looking at about £500 -550 each as a minimum for flights and accommodation for the likes of the Algarve, Majorca and Tenerife.
I will have another look tomorrow.

Bizarrely if I can move my days forward a couple I could go from Glasgow for about £100 less each.

Don't forget you are being tracked too by sites like Jet2/Monarch.  Drives me mad as every time I find a flight, if I leave the site and go back, it's gone up!
I don't want to delete cookies all the time as I can't remember all my passwords!

I have never had this problem Bluwise. When I go to book I often check the price from another computer to ensure to cookies thing does not raise prices. So far it has not but I know on here people who it works for.

Bluwise, you only delete the cookies of the site you've been on. It doesn't affect your saved passwords as you're not deleting them, only the cookies
1 Go to Tools
2 Select options
3 Select Privacy
4 Select remove indiviual cookies
5 Click the cookies pertaining to the flight site you've been previously checking.

I'm living proof that we saved a fortune doing this.

Thanks Toky - I'm using a mac but have found that 1,400 website cookies are on here.  Trouble is, looks like I have to delete one by one so I don't lose the ones I want.  I will certainly do as you suggested for flights in future - thanks.

I met a lady the other week who wants to go to Bodrum airport to see her friend and she said she could find nothing under £400 return (not sure when she is planning to go) I told her about Easyjet when they release their flights there are bargains to be had, she was very dubious about using Easyjet, she mentioned that programme that used to be on a few years back think it was called Airline or Airport narratted by Tony Robinson, I told her they are nothing like the programme and how we have used them for the last year or so and would recommend.... it defo seems that flights to Turkey are more expensive then other countries particularly of late :(
