Post by: loz on May 13, 2013, 07:52:49 AM
A recent topic on CBF Guns and advertising, we have probably all been blits with this garbage on FB, by all means report it on FB, but remember mot of the reports go back to the original poster to deal with not a team from FB.

Regarding the above advertisment contact and make your complaint to this office
http://www.asa.org.uk/ (http://www.asa.org.uk/)  Give them a link of where you have seen it, again this time blitzing of FB and other social sites.

You know, I don't think you should need to be asked not to post ads for guns - you surely realise that it is inappropriate even if you don't know that many will find it highly offensive?

Why ?

Does Britain want to turn into little USA? UK is full of bloody idiots as it is, do they need to know they can buy Sub Machine Guns, Shotguns, Hand guns etc?  we are not talking air rifles, there are enough of these sold to the same idiots going around shooting at pet for sport.
And before someone comes along and says before a gun can be sold they have to obtain a licence; now let us see....
Hungerford shooting - licence holder
Dunblane -licence holder
Raoul Moat- Licence holder?

If these murderers were given a licence and told 'now be good and ensure you lock these weapons away safely' when they flip to go on a murderous rampage does their conscience kick in because they have fire arms in a locked cabinet?  of course not!!!

The Argument for sport wears a little thin too, clay shootings, should the guns be kept at the local police station and signed out for practise and tournaments? why take the darn things home?

So many Scenarios, so many potential heartbreaks.

I have got problems with old woman who has never been satisfied by their husbands in their life until they came to turkey and found a little satisfaction at the back seat of a white tofas car and than joining forums and complaining about everything , objecting about everything ,but i dont complain nor call them idiots etc.

Anyway, you can buy submachine guns or bazookas but they are all deactivated and impossible to activate them. if you knew your countries law you would know this.

Uk is one of the most difficult country to get firearm licence and even you get one it is harder to find a shooting ground as you dont have common land like in Turkey where you can go to forest and have picnic , put your tent etc. I dont agree with any country turning in to america as they have gone too far there, you can buy a gun from shops like tesco.

I hate city cowboys who fires their guns everywhere and cause innocent people die , but it is not the gun that kills it is that murderer who pulls the trigger.

No body has to agree with someone elses life style nor hobbies but should not insult another person because of their choises.
I dont see the point of keeping this conservation going on and on as some people like guns and some people dont. just like some people like kebab from cinbal in kayakoy and somepeople prefer to be vegetarian . but because of their choises none of the parties are better or more clever than each other. ı hope the point is taken

Buying sub-machine guns or bazookas deactivated, and of course there is not one person out there in the UK that is not capable of doing the required work to re-activate them.  A few years back in Turkey Gordon was offered a deactivated gun, he was told of a place in the Sania to take it too and they would do the work for him for 100TL, I was horrified, thus he didn't get the gun.

As for the obtaining a licence for a gun in the UK it may appear to be difficult, however, as many have been given to murderers who have later been deemed 'unstable' speaks volumes in the justice laws for obtaining said licence.

Thankfully UK is not (yet) like the USA, and hopefully never will be, but do we need the open advertising and glamorising  of such material in the media or social networks.

An analogy of a woman in the back of a Tofas does not even equate in this discussion unless of course she was in the UK and had a gun and was going to murder someone.

This taken from the Fethiye Times.  Good to see children being warned about the dangers of guns.

Children Urged to "Bring a Gun, Take a Book"
Central Fethiye

A worthy exercise was held at the Fethiye Cultural Centre last week when local children were urged to “Bring a gun, take a book”.

The aim is to teach children that guns are dangerous items, and playing with toy guns, coupled with gun-related violence portrayed in films, TV and computer games, can make guns seem just normal objects rather than things which can, and do, kill.

Kids who surrendered their toy guns at the Centre could choose a book to take home instead of the toy.

The report did not contain any indication of the number of children who took part.

The argument that all guns should be banned because someone has been shot with a legally held firearm doesn't really hold . as most shootings are with illegal guns and they will be available anyway there are far more killing with knives are we going to ban them as well

Well, as it’s already illegal to carry a knife longer than 3” (eg Swiss Army Knife) in public without good reason then I guess that’s already pretty much happened.

There are more suicides than murders with guns both here and in the US.  More to the point though, there are thousands of accidental deaths with registered guns in private households.  Just last week a 2 year old girl was killed in the States by her 5 year old brother with his fully working toy gun.  His mother had ‘forgotten’ there was ‘still’ a bullet in it.  And most of the big massacres that have happened worldwide were carried out using perfectly legal, registered guns.

As for the illegal guns, there are so many guns sloshing around these days it probably wouldn’t take very much effort to find a source for one if you were so inclined.  Making them less plentiful sounds like a great idea to me.
