Complete demolition of the Yakamoz in progress at the moment by the Belediye.
-
Well, the owners were well warned last year when the belediye cropped all the illegal extensions that had been done over the years.
-
It was looking very scruffy when we were out in April
-
what / where is Yakamoz??
-
a hotel near Olu I think?
-
I don't think it's the same Yakamoz.

Yes we thought exactly the same, the once great Yakamoz looked terrible. It's a restaurant on the 'new' prom in Fethiye.
-
what / where is Yakamoz??
It used to be on Fethiye kordon just beyond the Heads ..... but not now.
-
Apparently the short story is that the owner told the Mayor to stick (something unknown at present) up his arse after a discussion about some tree removals. The Mayors answer to that.....demolish Yakamoz!
-
If only our PM had some guts.
-
I digress but . . . Actually Stoop, the other Yakamoz is a lovely little hotel nearer to Fethiye than Olu Deniz, situated just as you reach the top of the climb up from Fethiye. It's very lovely, personal and relaxing. I stayed there twice a year for a long time before renting in Fethiye or Calis. We still go back for the odd weekend (if we can get in!) to escape the heat, see the staff relax in he cooler mountain air and just reminisce. Aah. . . Memories.

Ocakkoy !
-
Right opposite (ish) KKob, the guests there used to walk down the road to eat sometimes at Yakamoz! We also stayed at Occakoy one year when Yakamoz was busy, in one of their little Turkish cottages. Lovely.

Just to let everyone know it will be back bigger and better. The owner arranged for it to demolished so the new one will be more like the shaka and so on.Nothing to do with things being stuck up some where.. :o
-
That's strange then - daft timing with regard to the holiday season !
-
And also, why the need for a sizeable Zabita and Polis presence?
-
Elfin Safety ? ;)
-
Reading the Turkish paper in the dentist today, the headline implies that the Belediye had something to do with the demolition.
-
According to son dakika Fethiye (http://www.sondakika.com/haber/haber-fethiye-de-sahildeki-restaurant-yikildi-4677240/) there had been a long ongoing legal dispute between the restaurant and the Fethiye municipality. Supreme court has decided that the restaurant had to be evicted. Fethiye municipality decided not to rent it out again but to demolish it.
Owner of restaurant complains about the legal procedure. According to him it takes normally about one year for a decision to be made in surpreme court and this one was done in less than two weeks.
-
So "the owner arranged for it to demolished so the new one will be more like the shaka and so on" is probably not totally correct then :D
-
Now there's a funny thing !
-
Does sound wrong but I was only repeating what I was told by the head waiter.Don't shoot the messenger :'( :'(
-
No I wasn't, I just wish these people could just tell the truth rather than come up with the usual cock and bull stories :)
-
I used to love the old Yakamoz. It was the place we went to celebrate on signing for our first place in Turkey 10 years ago. Also used to love sitting at the table on the boat eating really good calamari and great humous- but it had really gone downhill since then. It is in a prime position so whatever replaces it should do well.
-
Yes back then it was a place you would go to for a special treat - one of the jewels in the crown. Recently more like a straw in an old hat. Luckily things have progressed around it but sad to see its slow demise.
-
Anybody taken a photo of the now Yakamozless prom?
-
No point in a photo, it's just flattened dried earth, no evidence that it was ever there! Weird!
-
But here is one anyway, all gone!(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/06/06/nuve6amy.jpg)
-
Remarkable
-
A real shame.

Thanks for the picture. It certainly looks better now! So much space, wonder what will go there now?
