Think I'd need a holiday after that!

We've just spend 16 days in Calis in May and planned nothing.  Just took each day as it came.  At the end we realised we'd not done much at all,  just relaxing, lazing by the pool or on the beach, walking along the prom into fethiye, eating at different places and meeting  new people, catching up with old friends and a few days out.

We both agreed it was possibly one of the best holidays we've had there and the only 'pull' to come home was being able to see our little grandson again.

When you come home you'll need a holiday.
I can't even stick to a very basic plan, things just develop differently I find.
We often say this trip we must go to a certain restaurant and it doesn't happen.
It took us 8 years to eventually get to the fish market. Since we found it it is now a must go.

We spent 3 weeks in Calis recently and did hardly anything, but had a wonderful time.  Had no plans at all, did think of going to Kalkan, but could not be bothered as we were too busy doing nothing... Came home with batteries charged and already looking forward to our next lazy visit in September.
One thing I would point out in your plans.  Do the Turkish Baths on the first day as it gets rid of all the dead skin and gets you ready for a tan.  Leave it until late and it will scrub off your tan.  :D

I was absolutely shocked to read that, such a lack of flexibility and seeing where life takes us.

Then I remembered, I had every lunch and every dinner planned for our April visit long before we got to Turkey :D

A holiday is doing what YOU want to do when YOU want to do it. That's IF you are on your own. IF you have a partner then YOU have to give due consideration to that person and MUTUALLY agree on where and when you both want to go somewhere.  Take a chill pill and plan nothing and go with the flow.  Regardless of your decision, one thing is guaranteed YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME.    8)    ;)

Is it a holiday, or an Endurance Test ?

Work Hard - Play hard Kkob   ;)

Nothing is set in stone and it is planned with both my Wife and Sons needs fully considered as they both like it all done for them Ray1951  ;D

I have done the lazy lets see what happens Holidays and for me not much happens so with some sort of Itinerary it works for us   ;)

I'll take your tip on board Jacqui about the Hamman but again that was for my Wife and Son as being rubbed down by some sweaty bloke is not really my cup of tea   ;)

I think it's a good idea to have a mix of both, know where you want to go and want you want to do but also not really plan it.   :)

This year we only know that as a group we want to do a boat trip, probably aim for mid-holiday, go to Mozaic Bahce (this will be planned for the parent's anniversary) a jeep safari for us four younger ones, and most likely a trip to the fish market at somepoint.

Otherwise, the rest of the time will be spent relaxing by the pool or beach, dinner then going to a couple of bars for drinks. I remain optimistic that I will do the walk from Fethiye to Kaya Koy, but weather/heat depending!

But I admire the planning Robw! Maybe in May one year I would try to achieve your list!   :)

Why has everyone (almost) whose following this thread got the same avatar - why - what does it mean - am I missing something?

Feel exhausted just reading your plan!  Just relax and enjoy, that's what holidays are for. :D

I like to plan things out and be organised.  I'm going to Calis for 10 days, Kusadasi for 14 days then 4 days in Istanbul.  Apart from Istanbul which will involve sightseeing and shopping, the rest will be done on the basis of 'what do I fancy doing today?'. I have no one to please but myself  which is sheer BLISS.  Enjoy your holiday, it will be fantastic.    :)

Rob, I think your plan is spot on. You have a clear idea of what would be good to do each day and if you decide otherwise then so be it. We notice many people who visit our complex during the summer spend each and every day by the pool, I totally understand that it's their choice but can't help feeling they are missing so much.

After our last 12 days in calis, every night we planned what we were going to do the next day, and 11 out of 12 times this did not happen, I think being completely chilled and going with the flow is the secret to a truly relaxing holiday!!

It just goes to show how different we are, I would hate a holiday where I planned to do things, either before travelling or once arrived in the resort then ended up doing none of them.

I was thinking more along the lines your wife has other plans and shops near to locations you are choosing could very well change your whole day. :-)

Well each to their own, but if my husband planned a holiday like that he'd be holidaying alone. Having spent the last few months building up to a house move I'm am relishing kicking back and doing sweet FA!

We arrived back Sunday after two lovely weeks, great weather around 38 degrees. We both felt we needed to relax on this hol so we did.Enjoyed the turkish bath at the Nevada Su,good value.Three beach days, one at the main beach in Olu Deniz, but much prefer the small beaches in the lagoon they are much safer. We went to the Yencec in Ovacik for an evening meal-very good food.Several trips into Fethiye, which is looking so up market with all the improvements - we like the walk from Gunlukbasi along the beach road. The persistence of the dodgy exchange guy to attract attention amazes me - I enjoy blanking him.
Had some good meals, fish market the two Zayras  such good value.Cafe inn is one of our fav
Had a good night in the guitar bar,the two guys played some lively music.

Now back to reality-roll on September   8)

I'm pretty organised in real life but not on holiday!

Booked Kings Garden pick up.

Now only sixteen nights to sort. The days can wait  :)
