Been in to Finans earlier this week - current acc changed to double egg account at 7.5% and investment accounts revamped to give 7.4% thats up approx 1.5% from their standard rates - so pays to go in regularly and see whats on offer.

Seems the doom merchants got it wrong, thank god! Rates are climbing across the board and have heard ING Orange should be at 8% next week but are going to do a 0.25% increase every few days to get to this?? Currently climbed again to 6.75% however Garanti are currently offering 7.75% on a 31 to 27 day account and on their others a 7.40%. Will be interesting to see the finance report for this month to see who pops their head above this rate! http://www.bodrumbulletin.com/community/finance/889-turkish-interest-rate-report

Think you should go back as these are the NOW daily rates for Orange account tried to look to see where the 6.1 was on their normal daily account but it is showing only 6.0% so can only assume they have tied you into a 32 day account rather than Orange?? Click ING link above and it's there to see davybill and as said this is supposed to go up to 8% next week so don't get tied into a monthly rate but use the Orange daily rate so it moves to what ever rate is listed.

Anyone use TEB bank and if so what kind of service do you get off the staff?

Our experience is pretty good in terms of the products offered and the service given, providing you don't have to queue for something 'downstairs'.  So to give yourself the best chance avoid Monday (start of the week and weekend pay in day), Tuesday (Market day) and Friday (Prayers day and close of business week for some).  So generally Wednesday and Thursday are good banking days, but that usually applies to all banks and not just TEB.

We have been into the TEB Bank a couple of times this week to change money.  Their rate is better than our bank, ING, and there are always smiling faces.  Inquired about their daily current account and it would appear to be better than the ING Orange account.  So, will be going in sometime in the next few days to get the lowdown and possibly move accounts.

TEB daily account at the moment is 6.75. Same as their 35 day account. Managed to get 7.50 with Seker Bank on a 6 month deposit account. I also find that Seker bank gives a better exchange rate than all the other banks.

7.5% Garanti 21 days to 27 days account
ING Orange Acct 8% introduction rate then reverts to 7%

Best rate around at the moment between 15 different banks with a min 25000TL deposit is TEB at 7.95%

Seems a few banks are dragging their heels to raise their rates compared like Finans only offering a poor 6.10%!

Problem with that is you are locked in for 6 months in a period when the rate is climbing, Garanti's 21-27 day is offering the same rate, and it is rumoured the rate is expected to pan out at 8% thus you could lose out. TEB rate has dropped if it is only 6.75 now as it was showing 7.95% on a 32 day account??

TEB daily rate is 6.75% - but this is equivalent to the ING ORANGE Acct where you can add or withdraw whenever you like - not a Time Deposit Account. It is called Marifetli Account and usually pays a higher daily rate than ORANGE so I would expect it to rise shortly.

Introduction rate is 1% higher as ING

Well after all my good reviews of the ING I have decided to leave them. They now charge an outomatic 10% (handling) fee and 5 pound Bank charges on any transfer into the account.

Bad enough with a small amount but beware if your going to transfer a big sum.
Title: Re: Interest Increased
Post by: corbindallas on September 02, 2013, 16:15:44 PM
Jackstee do you mean transfering money from UK to ING for these charges as I transferred TL into my account with no fees and can also transfer to other banks from my Orange account free, when many others still charge. Also they have just upped their interest to 8.25% on Orange accounts and are expected to go higher when the Turkey central bank increase their interest rate which they will have to as the lira is so weak.

Should add Yapi credit are offering the best rate for 25k TL interest accounts at the moment.

I used to be able to work this out in my sleep but the brain is fried.  can anyone tell me what the Tax % is that is paid on the interest, it used to be 1.8% or 2% per month on monthly, 90 days or annually. I am trying to work out what the interest will be and tax deductible for 90 and 180 day accounts for 155,000TL? and is it compounded for the 90-180 days or only compounded on the monthly.
What a load of jibberish, if anyone can answer that i take my hat off to you.
