Title: SpitroastChicken/Barbecued lamb
Post by: tonyb on June 26, 2013, 20:40:59 PM
Do any of the members know if there is a restaurant in Calis or Fethiye that specialises in either spitroast chicken or lamb. Considering Turkey is renowned for it's lamb it seems in remarkably short supply on menus, other than lamb shank. I'm sure I saw a restaurant/cafe on the way to Fethiye last year that was cooking spit roasted chicken, but can't remember the exact location. Your help would be very much appreciated.
I don't care if it's a restaurant or a tiny lokanta, the more traditional, the better.

Spit roast chicken can be found every where even Kipa sales them . As for the lamb head to KayaKoy (ghost town) and you will find that nearly all the BBQ restaurants sell it, Its not cheap but very nice.

I remember having lamb at Anna's about three years ago & asked why they didn't use the spitroast machine that was always outside. The answer was that the other restaurants had complained about the smell of the lamb cooking & had stop using it. Something very appealing helpng about chicken served straight from the spit, plus would be quite a novelty in a seafront Calis restaurant.

Thanks for your help folks, as usual, if you want to find out about anything Calis/Fethiye, there's no better place to come than this forum.

Tonyb, yes this is a fab little restaurant, right by ours, we can call over the fence and ask the children or owner to get for us if wanted, also if you are full and need to walk it off, then just at the end of the road if the New Prom for that gentle stroll taking in the views.  BLISS ;D

On the right heading towards Fethiye. (Look out for the neon cockerel)
Don't know about alcohol - I only drink water in Turkish restaurants.
Their toilet is weird - literally their bathroom complete with bath  :D

Don't think they sell alcohol. I'm pretty sure that if they did, I'd have asked for a beer. Made quite a pleasant change to have an alcohol free meal on holiday !!!
