Title: Every Picture Tells a Story
Post by: Highlander on July 02, 2013, 22:56:26 PM
Senior members may remember the title as that of a 1971 album by the one and only Rod Stewart, a copy of which Brenda and I were given as an Engagement present.

However, that is not the point of this post.

It is rather that the locations of these two pictures are approximately 100 metres apart. How can that be :( >:(

Strange thinking back, when we were first looking at properties to buy we were taken to Calis, I said at the time, "no way! hell or high water am I ever living in Calis"  it reminded me of the then bad press and capture of Terry Waite, Beirut.

I wanted to live as near to Olu Deniz as possible, but when we arrived during the winter months, and at that time NOTHING was open, except for a Thursday night Fez Bar, which was freezing. and nothing at all open in Calis. However, I was talked into Calis and have seen the area grow and improve over the years. again thinking back I much preferred the rugged un-British(ised) area.

Therefore, for investment and tourism the first photo, for character definitely the second.

One of the biggest problems for this area is even though they are only one hundred metre's apart one owned privately one  owned by the Belediye.

Loz - if that pile of rubbish was at the end of my street, the last thing I'd be saying it added to the area was character.
