Title: Temperature thread
Post by: Menthol on July 04, 2013, 19:47:07 PM
According to the BBC website, it was 32C in Fethiye today and will be roughly the same tomorrow.

So to those of you out there, is that accurate?

Yes, pretty much. My weather app shows 32/33 for the next few days and is usually spot on. Don't forget this is in the shade though....

It's been around 30C again today in Sheffield and yes, before you ask that was in the blazing sunshine and not in the shade.

It's about 25C at the moment and I can hear an ice cream van. Do you have ice cream vans in Calis and Fethiye?

Didn't think so.  8)

Bournemouth to Boscombe (despite the size of the beach) was soooo noisy  :(
But it was like being abroad because most of the languages heard weren't English   ;)

Yes, we were out in May too and the shade temperature reached 37C on at least 2 days!  :o
But that was exceptional for that time of year, we're usually out then and think it's the hottest we've seen it.

Wouldn't have minded a nice pool to have a dip in this weekend though and air con in the bedrooms!!  But I'm not complaining, I only have to think about last summer to stop myself!   ;)

Yes, I know what you mean.  When we were in Calis in May one of the 'front of house' guys who we know quite well now asked me why I always carried a wrap (or something similar) with me in an evening when the weather was actually fabulous and stayed warm well into the night.  I replied that it's a 'just in case' which was a regular item of clothing when living in the UK! Hard habit to break   ;)  I hasten to add that I wouldn't be doing that if I was there now, but we've had some cold evening in May in the past!   :o

I was caught out several times in Ovacik when we used to stay up there, if we had been to Fethiye of an evening it's a bit of a shock when you get off the bus up there, so I know just what you mean.

And to prove the point I have arranged. at no small expense to have the evidence for all to see in tonight's One Show at 1900 - I hope ! Magnum opus so to speak.

The temperature is forecast to be 30deg plus next week in England, but it is definitely not the same as being in Calis where there is a lovely breeze in the afternoon, and most of us are not near enough to the coast to appreciate the hot weather. The people who have to work in these hot temperatures do not like it either.  Looking forward to being back in Turkey in September.
