Title: who to use for cheap holidays to Turkey
Post by: Karennina on July 22, 2013, 18:09:05 PM
Sorry if this should be in the flight section  ;) we are looking at having a week in Turkey end of August, we booked outward cheap flights with Easyjet ages ago when they first released the summer flights, however the return flights are just stupid prices so someone suggested a package holiday, however I am not sure who to look with, have looked at one company who I use for flights only and again stupid prices, I thought maybe some of you travel experts could point me in the right direction for hopefully a bargain  :)many thanks for any ideas....

Travel Republic have always been our choice. There are lots of cheap rooms on their books. Hope this helps

Sunshine.co.uk are good too, we used them for the Ece Saray in April as they were cheaper. Travel Republic were cheaper for the Manaspark in Calis on the same trip. Here is the Calis range:

Try:   lastcheck.co.uk   or      discountholidays   or alpharooms       You will get a great price for the Aymes Hotel in Calis from lastcheck.co.uk and it's in a great location, only 50m from the beach and close to transport links, restaurants & shops.  You will love Calis, I'm sure, enjoy.

I use both Sunshine.co.uk and travelrepublic.com for my research, but often book direct going via quidco or topcashback which can often shave another £100 or so off (cashback can never be guaranteed but personally I've never had a problem).

Where on Quidco can you get cash back for booking a hotel direct? I've never seen one. They don't deal with individual hotels.

Sometimes, somewhere like hotels.com have prices that are the same as booking direct. Also flights can attract cashback if you click on the airline via quidco/TCB.

We've booked in the past direct with the hotel (no cashback, obviously), sometimes booked a package holiday (usually get cashback) and sometimes via hotels.com or similar (up to about 9% cashback sometimes).

Once you've found the hotel you want it's worth a look booking through other sites.

Ok, just a bit confusing because you said you booked the hotels direct.

I am a big fan of Quidco, not just for flights and hotels - I always get a few quid back for even the little things like airport parking. It's also good for changing mobile company and broadband supplier, where the cash can be considerable.

Worth a look: http://www.quidco.com/ (http://www.quidco.com/user/361773/92410)

When we get to Turkey I always book a holiday somewhere local, I just like to have people wait on me for a change.

Travel republic, Ovacik is always cheap along with Hisaronu, Calis for the life of me I know why is more expensive.
At the moment Travel republic for the last week in August Ovacik B&B total cost for the week £84  to £108  Anna apart Calis £114 self catering Aymes hotel Calis B&B £120

The above is for 2 people 24th August to 31stAugust
Just how cheap do you want?

That is a brilliant price Loz, we are not fussy at all re the hotel being great as we have an apartment in Calis, I booked Easyjet flights one way only as a lot of things in my life were up and down at the time and did not know when I would be returning, however a flight back is extortionate so that is why we are looking into a package deal as at the moment some that I have found are cheaper then a return flight, if I can not find anything sensibly priced we will just stay in England for the week, I refuse to pay £400+ per person for a one way flight, it has now become a matter of principle to me  :)thanks for all the replys, I shall keep on looking   :D

I've wondered about this idea of booking a package holiday and then not using the hotel but it always makes me nervous as I hear rumours once about them cancelling your homeward bound flight if you don't use the hotel.  Has anyone else heard that?  What's the best way around it?

Mmm... Good question.  Not sure as I've never tried it.  I guess they'd know if you never turned up to check in which probably answers my question.  Just check in.  Might they also notice if the cleaners never need to clean the room?  Not sure.  If anyone has tried this and has any tips I'd be grateful because it sounds like a great idea.   ;D

We did it and told the rep at Dalaman arrivals that we'd be staying elsewhere. She couldn't have been less interested.

We did this once many years ago, we told the rep that we would not be using the hotel, or the flight return, they just said thanks and could sell it on, as for the hotel if you do not show up it does not matter, the flight is still yours.

Karen, I don't know which UK airport you want to fly into but check out Turkish Airlines.  7 September Dalaman to Stanstead £177 each or Easyjet £203 each (Skyscanner)

Thanks for that Marrgie but we have to be back before that for work,  I think the flights  we have booked outwards is the most expensive week of the year!!!
If we can find a good deal with a hotel we shall use the hotel facilities when we fancy a change of scene, also if we find something with breakfast we will go for our brekky on the days we feel like it....

still searching  ;)whilst I have been conducting my search over many hours on the net I have stumbled across a company called holiday discount centre and they seem to have some good price holidays mid August flying from Glasgow i.e 7 nights at the Pelin b&b £292 pp, 7 nights at Nevada Su half board £313, half board Cenk Bay Hotel £325..... Thought I would post these for all the members in Scotland who have to pay for expensive flights, I am now wondering whether to fly to Scotland see my lovely inlaws and then fly to Dalaman from Glasgow  ;)and flit between my apartment and a hotel and have the best of both worlds by brekky and evening meal included :D
