I read a post from a fellow Forum member on Facebook saying that it was 51 degrees in the square in Fethiye.
Some people have disputed the fact that it gets this hot so is the temperature reader wrong? How hot is it?
-
Ive been in Fethiye previously in August when its been 54 and my husbands flip flops melted.
-
Yes it is possible... Its horrendous....
-
I've been there when it was 50+ degrees, spent most of the time indoors with ac on, only coming out in evenings, which wasn't very much cooler
-
Also been there in 55. One day I bought eggs from a village lady. When I cracked them open to make OH an omelette they were all like lightly boiled lol!
-
Our thermometer hit 55 a couple of times in Kaya. Bear in mind though that it's at least a couple of degrees cooler up there than in Fethiye.

Thermometer in reception of The Oykun in June. Outside temperature is shown in bottom left.

That's because it's measured in the sun.
Tempurature should always be measured in the shade.
-
Yes, absolutely, true temperature is always in the shade...........
-
That's because it's measured in the sun.
Tempurature should always be measured in the shade.
Yes I am aware of that.
But Ray1951 asked about the temperature in the sun which is why I posted a thermometer showing the temperature in the sun.
Simple.
-
Yes true temperatures are always taken in the shade but what makes them true temperatures?
To me the temperatures are what is outside where I am!
-
January 4th this year - temperature in full sun was over 50 deg.
but it was a bit cooler on the skin than it is at present.
-
this is one of my pet hates, highest temp ever recorded in turkey is 48.8 and highest ever in the world was 56. something... oC
Temp in direct sun may be a lot higher, up to 50-60oc but air temp, the stuff that surrounds you and you breathe in, is rarely higher than 43.ish.
in winter, would you stick a thermometer under a lamp and say thats the temperature?
so far this year, the highest it has been is 38oC and that was last week. :)
here's a useful site, recorded temps every hour, accurate. http://www.meteoprog.in/en/fwarchive/Fethiye/ x

Talk about pet hates.....I still cant get my head around Centigrade!!
Call me old fashioned, but Fahrenheit is a lot easier for me!
Oh, and I find the following, by far the most accurate for Fethiye.

Strangely, I relate to high temperatures in F and low ones in C :-\
-
To measure temperature in full sun is like me wearing platform soles and boasting I am 6ft tall...
-
That's because it's measured in the sun.
Tempurature should always be measured in the shade.
The temperature should be measured in the shade or the sun depending where YOU are and which one YOU want to know!!!
Incidentally I recall in July 2008 it reached 56.6.

Strangely, Mrs KKOB often refers to me in F's and C's. :)
-
Brilliant KKOB :) :) :)
I feel a new thread coming on....

Talking of it being reallllllly hot.
Friend of mine died on the Operating Table, in the Morgue he suddenly came to life and they rushed
him back to ICU. There they asked him what had happened and he reported he had been to Hell.
They asked him what it was like, and he said a bit like being in the Pub in winter, "you couldn't get near the fire
for Estate Agents!"
Sorry Scun :)
-
I'm no estate agent :)
-
I'm no estate agent :)
So I have since heard :) :) :)
