You might be interested to see how it can occasionally look when it is not summer :) This was taken during daytime hours...

Much like the UK is for NINE months of the year !!! ;)
-
A bit like Scotland in the summer, haha
-
we've seen a few days like that in the summer there mind you. We had to wade through flood water in Fethiye one year.
-
A bit like Wales yesterday!!!

I would like to visit Calis out of season, perhaps even for Xmas but its getting there!
I believe that Dalaman is only open for Domestic flights? Or closed completely? So it is
Antalya and a very expensive transfer?? I imagine the ferry from Rhodes doesn't run either!
I drove from Calis to Cappadoccia* and back in June this year and it actually looks as if
Istanbul to Calis would be quicker but if the weather turns bad-----
*I am used to driving long distances, but if anyone is thinking of Combining a Seaside and Cappaoccia Holiday
I would recommend either taking 2 days to get there and 2 days back, or stay somewhere on the cost near Adana. I did the journey both ways taking just one day, 12 hours one way and 10 the other -- its tiring!

Fly into Istanbul and then the commuter flight down to Dalaman, you will also find that some of the transfer companies are still working,
-
John, Pegasus fly 6 days a week from stansted via Istanbul with only just over an hour wait. We fly out on 20th December for less than £100 each (Xmas is expensive) and over Xmas Thomas cook fly direct from gatwick for 3 about weeks, so we come back for £70 each. I will try and post photos from last January of clear blue skies and tshirt weather (we did have a few downpours lol) but a great escape from British winter!
-
I forgot to say to pgs fly to dalaman domestic terminal
-
we are over on the 27th dec booked with thomas cook
-
About 20tl to travel by coach from Antalya in the Winter.
-

Try www.flypgs.com - the flight we are booked on 20th dec is now £135 out each. Pays to book early!
-
This flight information has indeed been very useful. Thank you, guys.
And I quite fancy a road trip from Antalya to Fethiye. Thanks for that Mercury - do you know how long it takes?
And lovely mountain pics, Des - it looks so different and so stunning!
Clever Scunner for starting off this thread.
Anymore 'not-summer Calis' pics out there?
-
I have one or 500

I don't know where they are :D
-
Possibly the best photo I have ever taken (no great achievement that) -
Rhodes took a hard one tonight:

Got to admit, that's a pretty impressive photo, Scunner.

Where?
-
Hamlet forgot his memory card that day :D
-
It was foggy!
Seriously, for some reason, having followed the instructions I found on CBF the photo's are not showing, help please!
-
Not sure, but if I click on edit (your post) you have the image tags but there is nothing between them. Unless you are editing your post at the same time.
-
I wasn't editing, but I have now, I put a space between them & both have disappeared! What should I do then Keith?
-
Can you just type what you are putting between the quotes as a reply here, I assume it starts http something or other. Without the quotes I mean, and put a couple of random spaces in to break it up.
-
All I did was to put in my text then I hit : Add image to post, browsed my hard drive, selected the picture, resized it for website usage & uploaded. Then posted.
-
Did you click on the image icon, or click on "Add Image to post"?
-
I clicked on the words, not the image. That sent me to something called Postimage.org where I uploaded.
Since your last post I tried again but when I got to Postimage.org I registered as I thought that might have stopped the post appearing.
I went back to my CBF post and there was a link for one photo there but then the internet went down.
Just got back on, went to my post but the link for the photo has gone.
Tried uploading again but link not appearing!
-
Done it! uploaded 2 photo's, mind you after all that, was it worth it? 8)
-
Of course :D
-
Thanks 8)
-
Where are they.
-
I see them and yes they were worth it. Thank you!

The airport bus to Antalya otogar takes about an hour & is IRO 2tl. Most of the journeys from Antalya to Fethiye are on midi buses & take around 3.5 hours, including a comfort break up in the mountains. I'm pretty sure it had gone up to 25tl last winter
-
On page 3 Highlander.
-
Thanks Hamlet - they are lovely :)
-
Liz jumped in before me but yes those details are correct.. I would also warn yuou that during the Winter months there could be snow over the mountains...We have travelled up five times in December and only experienced it once.. We drove back this year in March and it was horrendous.. I would suggest trying one of The Hotels in Lara Beach... 5 star for peanuts.. If you would like to msg me I will send you recommendations.. You could try flying to Antalya which should be cheaper. staying a couple of nights in Lara and then flying back home from Dalaman.. Only one trip down the mountains then...you usually get a courtesy bus into Antalya from the hotels...
-
Thank you Mercury and Liz.
We've stayed in Antalya central before at The Khan Best Western Hotel and loved it. So doing the UK > Antalya > Dalaman sounds more than feasible.
A midi bus? Halfway between a dolmus and a coach?
-
Yep, the half size coaches, much favoured by Fethiye Serayhet & Bati Antalya companies for their Antalya - Fethiye journeys
