Title: Turkish Solidarity Group
Post by: Robw on August 07, 2013, 12:20:30 PM
I was working in London last night and noticed the Turkish Solidarity Group outside Manor House tube station. They have set up a sort of Marquee next to the tube station with tables chairs etc. I got talking to a couple of the guys and before I knew what was happening I was sitting down sharing Turkish Bread and drinking Cay!

This is in support of Taksim Square so if passing pop in and say hi, very friendly and peaceful protest with wonderful Turkish hospitality.

What is the latest position in Istanbul as it has gone quiet on the news channels, we are in Istanbul for 4 days next month en route to Fethiye so would be grateful for an update. Thanks in advance!

Unless you want to experience what is going on for yourself it may be advisable to stay away from the Taksim area. If you are in the Sultanahmet area then no problem.

Have a great time    :)

Social media namely Facebook and Twitter are the best source of news updates and I recommend this Facebook page although there are plenty of others.

This one too has both Turkish and English translation

Nichola do you know of any live sites at the moment to see what's happening? Halk tv and capulcu tv don't seem to have anything current now.

Thanks Nicola, I will have a look. We are staying near Topkapi Palace so have no worries or concerns re safety. Has anyone any feedback on Neorion hotel, is it really as good as the reviews on TA!

Thanks Nichola, and if I find any I will send to you. I feel so out of the loop with it all now.
