Truly shocking :(
-
How different the stories are, Mehmet is tiling our bathroom and told us it was on Turkish News last night, he says the news reported that she (?) was sleeping with the gardener.
Very sad no matter what the news.
-
Best you leave that fence alone Loz!!!
-
Shocking and sad. May her son and mother make a full physical recovery, but, mentally, I doubt it.
-
Best you leave that fence alone Loz!!!
Makes you think, but I the way I feel I doubt it will stop me.
-
It would definitely stop me from taking the "law" re. the offending fence, into my own hands!!

Read the comments under the Mail article. People blaming Turkey,as if there is no crime in the U.K.
-
Sorry just posted this under all things to do with Turkey... If you want to delete that post?

The Mail does seem to have it in for Turkey. I don't actually read it but I've seen articles like that before posted on here and facebook.
-
Comments are made by ignorant people. I felt safer in Turkey than I have in other holiday spots such as Spain or USA!

Grateful I live in England. After ACTUAL Death Threats, the Met.Police would NOT have allowed this tragedy. RIP.

A murder is committed by a criminal out on bail every ten days, new statistics have revealed.
On average, three offenders per month were convicted of murder while already on bail for another crime last year.
Nearly 40 criminals were found guilty of killing a member of the public while still at large in 2011, with 436 murders over the past 12 years being committed by someone on bail.

How sad, her family must be devastated, I hope they have support in Turkey waiting for them.
-
In relation to the contents of Scunners last post I fail to understand where these people come from, I suspect a Martian would have a more balanced view of our world and the people in it :(
On a slightly different note I heard on the BBC this morning that the Fethiye area which has 2 million visitors a year will be hoping that this incident does not affect the area!!
Well if the area got 2 million visitors a year you would not be able to move and the price of Efes would be higher than it is ;) ;)
-
Not British of course but total international arrivals do exceed 2 million.
As for the people who thought educated enough to make public comment at the Daily Mail website, I think they must picture Turkey in their mind as something like Afghanistan or Iraq. At times like that it is best to keep your thoughts to yourself and not confirm your ignorance!
-
So true!
-
I have to confess that before my first visit I thought Turkey was far more third world- ish,
and the drive over the mountains (pre tunnel ) from Dalaman with a kami kazi transfer driver
in the early hours passing mile after mile of half finished properties and some squalor made
me think I had been right. But,within a year I had bought and furnished my place in the sun.
However I have never once considered buying the Daily Mail. :) :)
-
Amazing how it was the front page story on the London Evening Standard last night, when other murders etc in the UK get hardly a mention. Lazy journalists who know they only have to present one side of the story with no comeback from the other party!
-

BBC Radio 5 about 06.15 reporter said "Fethiye which gets 2 million visitors a year" even they are cannot get the content right!!
-
Does anyone know why the Daily Mail has such a grudge against Turkey?
-
The Daily Mail has a grudge against everyone it seems. Awfully sad for the family, especially the son.

Read the Mirror today. They said she lived in a luxury villa. It looked like a normal villa to me. Also said the gardener had previously been married to an English woman who went back to England.
-
Evening standard tonight says a dalyan council worker said the gardener had been seeing the victim and flew into a jealous rage when he saw her with another man. For the balance they also quote 1 local who says the gardener had pocketed money for other tradesmen working on the villa, not sure how reasonable the quotes were!
-
Forgive me Jacqui but whether or not it was a luxury or "normal" villa seems to be totally irrelevent to me >:(.

In The Mirror ????? (must be gospel then ;D ;D ;D )

Given the circumstances, that is the comment of a seriously shallow individual.
JF
-
What would be classed as luxury, for lots of ordinary Turkish people, what people from other countries can afford even in what wound be classed as basic would be classed in their world as "luxury" I do not think that the kind of accommodation is at all relevant.
Same it comes down to who has what!

What is the relevance of whether she lived in a luxury villa or not have to do with it? A woman got murdered!!!
-
Oh Jacqui! :o

I read Jacquis as a comment on how a tabloid feels they need to embellish a story
-
Funny how nobody else read it that way ???
(But its easy to 'post' and then regret isn't it ? )

Yes it is
-
I read it that way actually
-
I suspect a "Lady Chatterley's Lover" style slant to this owner/gardener story from the Daily Mail. A "luxury" villa would fit that very nicely. It has nothing to do with the tragic events, the discussion had become about what it was the Mail has against Turkey.

Exactly, the idea being that by describing the property as 'luxury' means the reader sees the owner in a different way
-
Strange you should mention this as when it came on the local news (Look North) they also said it was a luxury villa and Maggie said 'that's not luxury its like ours'
Make of that what you will but I do think the media tend to 'fill out' their stories to make them sound a little better.
The saddest thing - apart from the tragedy itself of course, is the way biggoted people use it as a chance to have a cheap shot at Turkey. I can't believe some of the comments in the DM!
-
It's all about the adjectives.
-
I can't believe some of the comments in the DM!
I can understand the complete ignorance some people have - what is difficult to grasp is their desire to share it with others.
-
Some have even slated the paper for putting in a picture of the dead lady in the nude! Can't they see it's obviously her son!
-

Nice one - be a good header if you are ever short of ideas !
-
I believe that the mere fact that one has a second home in whatever foreign country, is indeed a luxury, when some in the world do not even have a roof over their heads, but I do not see anything wrong with what Jacqui posted, it has been taken out of context, I think.
-
Well even though the style/size/price of home is of no consequence to anyone, it is always reported in the media in this country, whatever the context of the story, as e.g " a body was found this morning in a £200,000 detached/semi/terraced house in whatever town " Why do they do it, do they check Zoopla before they print ?
-
Quite correct Angela! They always do it don't they?
I suppose its to try and put some perspective on things but it's pretty irrelevant really.
-
The second ever heart transplant patient in the UK was our neighbour across the road. His mum worked in the local shop and they were all thoroughly nice people. Our road was teeming with national press, all knocking on all the neighbouring doors. We could have told them what a nice guy he was, where he worked and plenty of information.
They didn't ask. What they asked was "We understand he had an affair a number of years ago, do you know anything about that?".
-
Scum of the earth!
-
The reporters I mean!
-
Seems the family are saying there was a relationship between the two but is that picture for real? Looks photshopped but how do you do that and get it hung in a couple of days without getting found out?

Frame is very sharp compared with the rest of the photo. Daily Mail huh...
-
That certainly looks photoshopped to me!
-
Amazing how it looks so new as well. I bet they went into Dalaman pretty quick to get that mocked up.
-
Most portraits there are photoshopped, I'm surprised that one hasn't got dolphins jumping out of the sea wearing tiaras. It's the frame of the portrait in the "real" photo that has a faked feel to it. It's too sharp and the light seems wrong.
-
The truth will filter through when they've sold enough newspapers.Same old same old------. >:( >:(
-
From reading these post nobody buys the Daily Mail so how come they are still in print ;) ;)
-
Also noticed nothing on the Turkish Daily News
-
They don't report bad news in the TDN.
-
Whatever the papers say or don't say.. This poor woman suffered a horrible and frightening death.. The people closest to her.. her Mother and son witnessed this happening and will never get over it....
-
It now appears that he had SIX of the photshopped pictures hanging up in his home. Surely this guy was in need of help? If it's not true that they were in a relationship then it must be that he was infatuated with her.
Surely it's not normal behaviour to have so many of the same pictures hanging around the home?
-
Seems that this man is going to be sentenced for the murder of this poor woman...
