I've been looking for ages for a suitably sized clothes hanging rail for our attic bedroom that cannot fit a normal sized wardrobe.
When we were at our villa in September, I dashed into a sportsware shop near the Fish Market in Fethiye, looking for said rail in order to take a photo so I could more easily show shopkeepers what I was looking for. I spotted just the type, complete with wheels (of course hung with sportsware) but it looked a bit too long. Mr AM patiently (or not!) waiting at the entrance called out "howzat?" and I said "it's too long". The nice chatty salesman, after realising that I was not in the market for his sportsware, but rather for his shop furniture, was amazingly helpful.
"I have a smaller one" he said, and immediately yanked off a lot of clothes hanging on a hidden smaller rail in the corner of his shop. I had a Goldilocks moment because it looked just right. I asked how much, and he said 30 TL. I could hardly believe it - not just the price but that he would sell it. Not only that but he promised to deliver it next day.
The next day I saw a broken down motorbike coming down the road with the guy holding up the rail with one hand as he drove. Only in Turkey! And its absolutely perfect - fits into the space as if made to measure! Here's a photo:

That's sweet.
And the villa looks lovely.

Only in Turkey is right. I have known people buy all sorts of stuff especially towards the end of the season.
-
That is exactly why we love Turkey, where else could you get a result like that ??? :D :D

Thanks, Menty. The most satisfying part of our whole 2 weeks (for me, I hasten to add) was that in that time, I finished furnishing that room: brought over a painting and had it framed and hung, found the clothes rail - perfect size, had a dressing table with stool made to fit the space (Erenspot - recommended by CBF- fantastic place), plus a mirror also from Erenspot with frame to match furniture. Here they are:

Try and name the sportswear shop if you can.
I think they deserve a free plug for their attitude.
Only in Turkey. ;D ;D

A lovely story, but just 1 thing bothers me I'll never get all my clothes on that rail when I come to visit!! ;)
-
Looks lovely, how good was the guy in the sportswear shop, well done.

Yes, Echogirl - totally understand - but you can hang your sparkly evening dresses on the rail ;) and use the dressing table drawers for shorts, T shirts and foldable items. Tucked under the eaves are more shelves, but Rainbow suggests using those as a lockable cupboard for linen (I'll need a door with a lock to be made - Erenspot will do that when we next come).
If that simply won't do for your extensive wardrobe,EG1, you can use our wardrobe on the second floor when you come to stay :D - Mr AM finds climbing the stairs to the attic bedroom a floor too far.
Kevin3, I have just texted the mobile I have for Cetin to ask him the address of the shop.

This is a great story and like others have said - only in Turkey! ;D
