Title: A lovely menu
Post by: Jacqui Harvey on December 03, 2013, 13:27:42 PM
Lunch Menu w/b 2.12.13

Monday Fish Pie & Veg
Tuesday Cheesy Pasta Bake & Broccoli
Wednesday Gammon Steak, Pineapple, Potatoes & Sweetcorn
Thursday Shepherds Pie & Veg.
Chicken Tikka Malasa, Rice & Poppadums

Semolina & Pineapples
Fruit Dumpling & Custard
Yoghurts

Unbelievable this is the menu for the little nursery my Granddaughter attends in Peterhead.  The Cook makes a real effort every week to have a varied menu for the toddlers.

Lovely - it reminds me of a glossy weekly school dinners menu we were given when we returned from Turkey to live back in the UK. Things had certainly moved on in the years we were away, it all sounded delicious.

Ah that brings back memories Stoop, at our school it was chocolate crunch pudding (about the same consistency as a house brick) and without the pink custard to hold it down you hadn't a hope of digging a spoon or fork in without the pud flying off the plate.

Remember this is not a school, it's a pre-school nursery, so menu is for 2 to 5 year olds. My Granddaughter is 3 years old.
I think the menus for this nursery are really good.  I read them every week.  The children planted potatoes in the garden, then dug them up and the Cook made tattie soup and mashed potatoes.

That's excellent Jacqui.
I used to work with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society - among their many activities, they hold annual education days for pupils from years 5 & 6 from schools across the region. Each year I was shocked at how many kids didn't actually realise that chips were originally potatoes that grew in the ground.....they just thought McCain's "made" them.  :o  :(
