A discussion today with the family, and ignoring the obvious I had to come up with my own and decided it's not Christmas without...
Pigs in Blankets :D
And yours? 8)

Prawn Cocktail for a starter. :D

Decorating my brand spanking new jumper with a variety of ingredients from my dinner :(

Christmas cake with Wensleydale cheese
-
Waking up to remember the loved ones who are no longer with us, the memories of champagne on a tray brought to you in bed, the walks through the woods before coming home to prepare the Christmas dinner for friends and family, the reality of knowing you are not there to share this Christmas or any other, but the memories left will always be there.
-
My homemade egg nog and mulled wine. :)
-
i have an obsession every Christmas to get two white poinsettias for each side of the fireplace. They are the very devil to find, but, it's not Christmas without these flowers in my house. All members of my immediate family are drawn into the search. Had to order two from the local flower shop this year brought from Holland with the rest of their order. ;)
-
Despite my humbug approach to Christmas, it does still happen in our house. In fact our house is where everyone descends for the dinner, including numerous waifs and strays over the years that various family members brought along because they felt sorry for them.
However one year my father was not present at the dinner and everyone agreed it had not been the same without Grandad saying 'So who wants stuffing? Ha ha ha ha' or playing his home made cassette of various songs and jokes or recordings of him making stupid noises (I kid you not). Oh and Grandad's home made giant trifle always made with blancmange (not custard) and always topped with that thick tinned cream and hundreds and thousands.

Oh absolutely Gorgeous Bird, my favourite too. :)
-
Polar Express and Elf here :)
-
The Coca-Cola Trucks on the TV.
There was one in Wrexham last week. Caused absolute bedlam and gridlock.
-
Yes KKOB we saw the Coca-Cola truck in Huddersfield on Sunday. Co-coincided with the Festival of Lights that weekend. Proved very popular!
-
Cheeselets ..... seems to be the only time of year when you can get them mmmmMMMMMMMMM
And my favourite xmas memory, would be our two and half year old lad waking up christmas morning finding the tiny stocking at the end of his bed with an orange and small toy in - his main prezzies being downstairs under the tree - and the look on his face of pure joy that Father Christmas had come during the night. He didn't need any other present, the two simple gifts given by Father Christmas was enough. Pure magic.
-
Sprouts.
-
Sprouts.
Wind. ;) :o
-
Babycham and Snowballs...YUM ;D
-
Tangerines.
I think this goes back to when imported fruit was still scarce and they only appeared as a special treat at Christmas. In our house anyway.
-
crackers
-
Good one Pumes - this year I learned something new (after 20+ years) - crackers are all the same. Bit of fun, bang, hat, rubbish joke, small crappy present. So stop buying expensive ones :D
-
Quality Street
Match makers
Baileys
Home made pickled onions
Home baked ham
Stilton
Indigestion
-
Check out operators asking "Are you all ready for Xmas?" I hate it (being asked - not Xmas)
-
Well, are you?
-
Grrrrrrr Not sure Colwyn, what does being ready look and feel like? How will I know? :P
-
Christmas stockings! ;D
-
Family Circle!!!

Ooh! Very existentialist! CBF's very own Jean Paul Sartre.
I like it!
-
Selection Boxes.
-
Twiglets!
-
Dates, figs, nuts still in their shells, crystalised orange and lemon slices, thank goodness we still don't do those, ugh. My poor mother is probably turning in her grave. ;) Love you mum. :)
-
cavfan - the present mrs H has asked that many, many times. Unfortunately, throughout the year not just on 25.12.
I confess to not understanding what she meant. ;)
-
A classic situation to use "reply with quote" (answering a comment that is two pages ago)...missed. Right, I'll just browse back to see the comment that this is in reply to (sigh thingy). :)
-
Absolutely agree Scunner, had to scroll back several pages, but still not sure what I am reading!!

It's not Christmas without
The Queens Speech.

I have never once in my entire life seen
The Queen's Speech :D
-
I have to add brandy, champagne and Bailleys flavoured thick cream to my list.
-
It's Not Christmas Without...
A birth, wedding or death in the soaps.
A repeat of Morcombe and Wise.
Repeats of The Vicar of Dibley and Only fools and horses.
And the battle of who gets to have the remote controls.
-
And no one mentions it is about the birth of Christ, just food, drink, presents, and whats on the T V , so I thought I would. ;) :)

-
There's always somebody trying to drag religion into things.
-
Not just me Colwyn, Mary62 wants the Vicar of Dibley on the box. :)
-
And no one mentions it is about the birth of Christ
At least Family Circle is real :D
-
You and your biscuits Keith. Hope you have plenty to nibble on at Xmas. ;) :)
-
Slade. blasting away in every supermarket... Having been away from The Uk for a few years... Loving the Xmas lights everywhere... Missed our Xmas pud in Fethiye so have bought 2 this year.. Coca Cola advert. Totally agree..
-
Just writing our Christmas cards. Really hate it... This year we have had 28 more to add to the list aaaargh...
-
Not just me Colwyn, Mary62 wants the Vicar of Dibley on the box. :)
I didn't say I wanted any of these programs, just that this is what the usual offerings are. :D ;)
-
Whilst we still take part in the great Xmas tradition of Family Circle biscuits whilst opening the presents, its not been the same since they put them in plastic instead of a proper tin, and you could safely use the term "and don't forget to add to the shopping list a big TIN of biscuits". :)
-
More alarming than the type of container is the weight of the biscuit content. Whilst they don't look much different, I can report (because we keep the boxes for the kids' Home economics requirements), 2011: 855g, 2012: 800g, 2013: 700g. A disgrace!
-
Yes and it's the same with those 'tins' of chocolates, like Quality Street and Celebrations...... ;)
-
From pigs in blankets to babies in mangers. :)
-
Seriously Keith you need to get out more. ;)
-
;D
-
On the subject of Christmas adverts, I haven't seen the Famous Grouse yet - mind you I don't know the last time I watched ITV. Seems to be full of Celebrity Downton Factor rubbish.
-
Hope you have plenty to nibble on at Xmas. ;) :)
Apparently Steph's offered to get her Jammy Dodgers out. ;)
-
It wouldn't be Walpurgis without a tree from the greenwood being brought into the house to guarantee the arrival of Spring (plastic ones don't work). This one is a Fraser Fir (sourced locally so it is green and well as evergreen).

-
Me cooking the Christmas dinner, doing the washing up, and then someone asking 'what have we got to nibble on' and soft girl me saying 'what would you like?'
Finally sit down to watch the TV and finding Grandad has the remote control and is channel hopping....AAAAGGGG!!
-
It wouldn't be Walpurgis
Surely you're about 4 months ahead of us Colwyn ?
-
I'm about a century ahead of you KKOB, but if you read my post it is about guaranteeing the Spring - which is celebrated on ... Walpurgis Night. So, without people like me looking after you all, it wouldn't be Walpurgis.
-
Wrapping up a few presents on Christmas Eve whilst having a G.&.T. and watching my DVD of the original and best Scrooge (Alistair Sim).
-
Listening to the carols from Kings College Cambridge, with a large glass of wine, knowing all is wrapped, prepared and given out by Christmas Eve. Meanwhile a very busy week ahead, 2 for lunch tomorrow, 5 on Thursday, 3 on Saturday, and 6 on Monday, run out of space in fridge and freezer, but will cope (I think!!)

Sitting in front of a cosy fire, feeling lovely and warm when it's a cold night outside.

That looks lovely Jacqui.
-
Oh and I see you got the white poinsettias too. X
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
-
Yes, but there is a shortage this year and the ones I ordered were the best they could get and very small. However, I would not rest unless I had them.. ;D
-
I'm told poinsettias, even white ones are unfriendly towards cats - china ones should be ok !
-
If that's right I'll buy mine tomorrow. Pest control!
-
I'm told poinsettias, even white ones are unfriendly towards cats - china ones should be ok !
Two china poinsettias it is then, I'll get them tomorrow ;)
-
Anything that would get cats out of my new garden would be worth a try, I've tried orange peel, kebab sticks, sharp grit everything, if anyone's gor any ideas I'd be glad to hear (in a new thread of course!! sorry Scunner, but its a subject close to my hear at the moment.)
-
You can get a bottle with gel in it that deters cats. We got one to get rid of a stray that was getting into our flower patch and it worked. Also they hate pepper.
We have had cats for years and also poinsettias, but our cats have no interest in them.
Also Scorcher, not China, perish the thought. Old Scottish Pottery circa 1900.
