Is it possible to book and pay for flights on a Turkish website and reap the benefits of the excellent exchange rates (pay in Lira) or does the TL price increase anyway?
-
Yes.
JF

Probably.

Ken, if the website is based in either the UK or Europe and would normally take your payment in either GBP or Euro but allows you to pay in lira, like Trivago or Travel Republic etc. they will simply use a currency converter and so you will pay more lira while the currency is weak. You might get a deal from Turkish airlines but because the currency is so weak, they could be getting hammered for fuel costs and landing charges in the same way that anything imported here will be costing a lot more money if paid for in lira.

I think he means AtlasJet, THY etc - which means my answer stands, yes.

Agreed John, I think Ken is in the UK in which case he's got the full picture

It looks like they are all converting from GBP so holidays abroad must be very expensive if bought in Turkey.
Unless you have suitcases of cash hidden in your house.
-
Or a Shoe Box :) :) ;)
-
Unless this currency is sorted out Ken, a lot of things are going to become very expensive in Turkey, everything imported for a start.
-
And they are bloody expensive already!
