Post by: mercury on December 30, 2013, 18:18:13 PM
Just seen on The news about his horrific injuries.. Only 44 years old. I was always a Mikka Hakkinen fan but I appreciate the difference That Michael made to the safety of Formula 1.and I really hope that he recovers from this.. .

He is one of my heroes, just can't believe it could end like this for him.
Adding my thoughts to so many others and hoping he fights as hard as he ever did on track.
 :( :'(

I find it very ironic that this guy risked his life week after week on the race circuit, to be in an induced coma with brain injuries from banging his head after a ski accident, there is no rhyme or reason to life.

Or, the short version, "Sh1t 'Appens"

I suppose it's easy to make fun but love him or hate him (I'm in the former) he's an absolute legend in his sport and this is a very sad event. For the sake of his family and then his millions of fans, I for one hope he pulls through.

Rimms no way was I making fun, my son is a massive formula 1 fan, just pointed out one of the ironies of life, that you can risk your life week after week, and your hobby can put you in a life-threatening situation

Echo girl. I don't think Rimms meant you.. Not is he a great racing driver but he helped contribute to making Formula 1 much safer. He was one of the ones who designed the safer driving helmet. Etc etc..
It is not always necessary to make a funny quip. Especially when a man's life is at stake and has a family and millions of fans rooting for him..

Schumacher is one of my sports heroes and as far as I'm concerned the greatest F1-driver of modern ages. I really hope he pulls through.

Just When You Thought They Couldn't Get any Lower

Journalist disguised as a priest tried to access Michael Schumacher's hospital room (http://www1.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/9095876/journalist-disguised-as-a-priest-tried-to-access-michael-schumachers-hospital-room)

Please don't tar us all with the same brush, Keith!

Most journalists are ethical, hard-working and interested in reporting the truth about real news.
(I refer here to those like myself who undertook extensive training and have the qualifications to prove it; sadly, with the advent of citizen 'journalism' it seems every Tom, Dick & Harriet are quick to call themselves reporters and editors.)

As with many professions it's the rotten few that give us all a bad name and sadly, with tabloid/celeb/gossip news sources being the most eagerly devoured by the public, that's where they tend to end up. It's an incredibly cut-throat arena - not that I am for a second defending the person involved in this, I find such tactics as deplorable as anyone.  >:(

You are right if course, I know who I meant by 'they' - I should have explained that more. But hopefully people know those I meant.

I tend to give this report far more credence than the announcement made by Shumacher's management team.

A former Formula One doctor has criticised the announcement that Michael Schumacher has emerged from his coma, warning that the 45-year-old is still unlikely ever to make a full recovery.
Dr Gary Hartstein attacked Schumacher's management over what he considers 'triumphal' claims, saying it was 'not news', and branding the announcement 'highly cynical' and 'almost certainly false'.
