Britain gives £80m in aid to Turkey to help upgrade nation’s sewer system
www.dailymail.co.uk
Why should we, the British public be paying for sewage systems in Countries such as Turkey who actually have their own money! Just Because they might one day join the EU? Yes thats right, The EU are now funding infrastructure in NON EU states using our money! Money that should be spent on upgrading our own infrastructure and sewage systems to cope with the extra homes needed to house migrants from the EU! Twisted Double dutch Madness!
We Need OUT of this idiotic shambles Now!

Since you live in Turkey you are out of the EU. And likely to remain so the way Turkish politics are going.
-
I agree with you but am merely highlighting the fact that UK citizens are forking out for things like this without their knowledge. It's pretty disgraceful.
-
Maybe, but I don't see myself marching through Bristol with a placard saying "STOP PAYING FOR TURKISH SH1T".
-
It's nothing new. There are hoards of projects in Turkey that have been fully or partly funded by the EU.
-
Doesn't stop them charging us to connect to it
-
Colwyn...why not? :o ;D
-
People would probably think I was talking about Marmaris tourist market.
-
No ****. !
-
The roads project was also funded by Europe, so people who live in Turkey and still pay taxes in the UK are getting something for their money ;-)
-
So the question remains, what was the £300 I paid for road tax (FETHIYE) the other year used for?Certainly not for my stretch of road here, Possibly a repayment to Europe ? ;)
-
As we are in the E U we have no choice. If there ever is a referendum to leave it I know exactly what my vote would be.
-
Since expats have to pay for everything whilst living in Turkey, it's about time they were given some concessions since the UK are contributing to things such as this. People should have a say about what countries receive funding from the so called EU money pot. Why do non EU countries gain from EU contributors? It's disgraceful.
-
Makes as much sense as paying a winter fuel allowance for many years past to ex pats permanently living in Spain and other countries that contribute nothing. Taxpayers money to the tune of £300 annually x many thousands of people.
Redundant soldiers and nurses in the meantime. All very logical..............
-
Where did you get the figure £300 from?
-
It's the winter fuel allowance paid to those that claim it when cold weather is on. They are going to stop it for most countries eventually. Italy ex pats will still qualify as due to their mountainous north, the average temperatures allow them to qualify.
-
I would imagine the ex pats now receiving the winter fuel payments contributed
far more during their working lives to the British economy than the millions who
have since arrived here and started claiming benefits, having contributed nothing.
A couple of passport renewals ago I received, along with my passport, two booklets.
one was a list of British Embassies abroad and the other was for non UK residents
holding British Passports. It listed Benefits Offices in the UK. !!
I didn't receive a booklet telling me where I could claim benefits abroad. >:(
-
The Winter Fuel Allowance can be £300 if you are over 80. It does not depend on whether or not the weather is cold. Cold Weather Payments are available to those whose postcode area registers "very cold" over a week and if you fit the eligibility criteria - mostly on benefits or living with child under 5. The payment is £25 per week. I don't think Spanish post codes are registered.

Oh dear:
"Immigrants who arrived after 1999 were 45% less likely to receive state benefits or tax credits than UK natives in the period 2000-2011, according to the report by Prof Christian Dustmann and Dr Tommaso Frattini from UCL's Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration.
They were also 3% less likely to live in social housing.
"These differences are partly explainable by immigrants' more favourable age-gender composition. However, even when compared to natives with the same age, gender composition, and education, recent immigrants are still 21% less likely than natives to receive benefits," the authors say.
Those from the European Economic Area (EEA - the EU plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) had made a particularly positive contribution in the decade up to 2011, contributing 34% more in taxes than they received in benefits.
"Given this evidence, claims about 'benefit tourism' by EEA immigrants seem to be disconnected from reality."

Well, if the EU are daft enough to give Turkey cash, then as someone living in Turkey I'm more than happy to enjoy the fabulous roads we now have, and anything else that comes our way, thank you very much..… I'm not saying its right, but I'm not complaining. Sue xx
