Sonra.
There have been a few rumours of April or May, but who knows - there is still no definite word of which shops will be there yet.

It's going to be an absolute joy driving past there with the otogar so close, there will be more than the usual fun and games that we already have on Turkish roads methinks.

That's the worse stretch of road, they come from all angles, no ones indicating, some driving on wrong side,  overtaking, people walking in the road and dolmuses dodging in between!

Probably all the same large stores that you get in all British towns just for those Brits who come here for a few weeks each year but get withdrawal symptoms Eric  : :)

C.&.A's would be really good, don't have them in the U.K. anymore, but still in Turkey.  Also Sephora, love that shop, again, not in the U.K.  Also an IKEA.
I would like to see some of the British Shops like M.&.S. and B.H.S. but not because I need a fix in the weeks I stay, but they are very good for home furnishings and also, I am sure some of the lady ex-pats would love to see these familiar brands, as I keep hearing that they hate the clothes in the shops in Fethiye... I agree, I think clothing is very poor.  I don't buy clothes when I am over.    I have also read there is a problem for larger ladies ex pats who find it extremely difficult to buy clothes locally.

Oh no !Ikea and C/A no!I wouldn't have any tacky furnishings or wear any of there clothing at home .I would like lots of small individual shops.I
Title: Re: Erasta shopping mall
Post by: Jacqui Harvey on February 09, 2014, 18:39:58 PM
If it's anything like the Shopping Centres in the U.K. the small shop keepers will not be able to afford the rent.
I would not call Ikea tacky.  I don't have any Ikea furniture, but I have seen some in other peoples homes and it looks good. I also know that lots of people in the Fethiye area have Ikea furniture delivered from Izmir, so there is a call for it.
As for C.&.A's.  I am no clothes snob, so if I saw something I liked I would buy it.  C.&.A.'s in Istanbul is very popular.  I bought some really good trousers in the C.&.A in Amsterdam and they where good quality and strangely enough "Made in Turkey"
I think I would rather have C.&.A. clothes  than some of the bri nylon sequinned clothes in the local small shops in Fethiye.

We are all full aware of the rents that shopkeepers have to pay.We also know that many shops stock bry nylon but there are lots of shops sell beautiful cotton items. We don't all want cheap and nasty.Local people need to benifit from this shopping center not just holidaymakers.

I have a friend who lives in Fethiye, she is married to a Turkish man.  She hates the local shops, can never find anything in cotton to wear and waits until she gets back home to the U.K. to stock up on clothes.  I have to agree. I find the local shops expensive and there is nothing I would or could wear  The women's clothes are made of man made materials and are very very fuss.and I never bother about the name of the shop or the price of the item.  I buy what I like.  So, please let me know where to buy these wonderful cotton clothes.  I will tell my friend too.

I love C&A. Its my first stop wherever I go shopping in Europe. And it means you get something different as they no longer operate in the UK. I usually buy my grandkids skiwear from here too.

I used to love C&A too, their Yessica range had some lovely things. I wish I still had some of those clothes now! There was a lot I didn't like as in any shop, but somehow I always managed to find something special. We bought great skiing stuff there at reasonable prices. I also like getting lost in IKEA, I can never find my way out! Lol   ;)

Unfortunately, the M&S in Izmir & Antalya sell neither food nor home furnishings, but it is good to be able to buy clothing that you know will fit, especially for a short a**e like me! With Turkish sizing, I am anything from medium to XXXL.
Title: Re: Erasta shopping mall
Post by: KKOB on February 10, 2014, 11:26:08 AM
I love Turkish shops. I think it's wonderful when you go into a shoe shop and ask if they have a particular style in a size 12 in brown and they offer a size 8 in black as an ideal alternative.

Post by: echogirl1 on February 10, 2014, 17:46:11 PM
That is just so true,  my friend wanted a pair of sandals in white in a size 4, she was offered a size 6 in red, with the suggestion she put tissues in the toes!!
Title: Re: Erasta shopping mall
Post by: Jacqui Harvey on February 10, 2014, 17:55:57 PM
Stores like Next, Wallis, M.&.S. and C.&.A. offer tall and short sizes which is really good for me who is 5'3" and my daughter who is 6ft.    So, I am sure the ex-pat ladies in the Fethiye area would love the choice of sizing.

We have visited the M&S stores in Izmir & Antalya, both of which are great if, as my wife puts it and in her opinion, you are looking for frumpy or 1990's clothes!  8)
Title: Re: Erasta shopping mall
Post by: Jacqui Harvey on February 10, 2014, 19:13:23 PM
Obviously, you have to selectively shop.  I buy M.&.S. petite trousers, they are perfect for me.  I hope I am not frumpy or stuck in the 1990's.   It's all about selective buying and picking and choosing.  I saw a lovely pair of cut off trousers in M.&.S. in Rhodes, but there was nothing else I would have bought.  I think it's a shame to discount any shop as there is always something you can buy.  I have shopped at designer shops and budget shops and I always find something I like.  It's all about being a savvy shopper.
However, before judging anyone's fashion sense or how fashionable they are, I like to see images or better still the person in the flesh, then, I may respect their opinions.

Who mentioned judging other people or their fashion sense?
As I said, it was my wife's personal opinion on what was for sale in store.
She is also 'petite' but has no desire to buy just because it is there.

Well I'm with Jacqui on this one. I'd love an M&S in Fethiye. For the clothes. The furniture would also be great, but I'm not hopeful.

However, it does concern me that as with all malls, the smaller businesses suffer.

I am also hoping for a Sephora as I know there is one in Izmir so, perhaps, a big shopping centre would attract this chain.  In the meantime I am sure an M.&.S. would please a lot of lady ex-pats in the area.

The shop next to the Card Shop in Fethiye is under new ownership.  She has had some very nice knitwear over the winter, all sourced from Istanbul and at very reasonable prices.  I have seen the same items in the "Designer Street" a 100 lira more.

In the summer she will sell mainly dresses and tops - some of them will be made by the owners.

Lets hope its a mixed bag.

Koctas,(B&Q), middle of the range clothing stores, designer shops(bound to be), Ikea would be wonderful, M & S,(expensive in Turkey, but cheaper than flying home, lol) C & A, yes please.

So many shops now deliver to Turkey, Evans, Dorothy Perkins, Next and many more, which is great if you are standard size, and don't need to try on, but there's nothing like a girly day shopping!!!!
