Title: CBF Fethiye Mayor Election Poll
Post by: Scunner on February 12, 2014, 11:58:08 AM
Some members do get a "real" vote and can join in our poll too - but for the majority of members (mainly non-Turkish members of the forum) this is your only chance to register your preference.

I have just " voted " ( by proxy ) of course, for   Behçet Saatçi DP . I firmly believe he has done a sterling job in improving conditions in Fethiye and it's environs. My opinion, of course.

My thoughts exactly Gordon - he can't please everyone but he has the good of Fethiye, and it's future, at heart.

Got a practice run in, voted for Saatci in this poll and will vote for him in the election too!  He has been a good mayor (even if it took goodness knows how long to get our road sorted) and has worked hard for his town.

Well only having been here for 6 years we have never known any other than Saatçi and from the improvements made in Fethiye and Caliş since our arrival he seems to be doing a sterling job, so he gets my vote.

You must ask Phil, why the TKP have not put up a mayoral candidate in Fethiye. Let us know what they say!

Yusuf (ytokgoz) is informing local newspapers in Turkish and Turkish regional television channels of this "yabanci election". He reckons the results will be very interesting to many in the area - perhaps not least the candidates. Although there is no vote for most expats, it is indeed interesting to see what this fairly significant sector of the Fethiye population think.

I tried to find out some information about the candidates for mayor a couple of weeks ago. When we went to register our ownership of the house at Olu Deniz Belediye offices they were in the throes of a mayoral candidate outdoor conference. (We had to drag one of the admin dudes back inside to get the job done. She was too busy flirting with one of the candidates ....tsk.)

All I ever found out was that the current mayor, Saatci, is the one everyone should vote for as he was 'gerçek' - the most real and genuine.

Its very hard to determine between Saatci and Keramettin, either of them would do a good job.

Actually, he was found not guilty of fraud. There is no doubt that Keramettin has done an excellent job for Oludeniz, being awarded for his contributions for tourism. It's not that I am saying that Saatci is not good but I don't think it's fair to judge Keramettin. Especially when he has been a good mayor for Oludeniz for 8 years. It's definitely not an easy job.

Certainly not an easy job when you get sentenced to 15 years in jail for it

Saatci for us, in 9yrs the transformation of Fethiye, has been tremendous. I am sure that the folk of Fets are very proud of their beautiful town.  He also has done many projects to benefit the smaller villages.

"Being found, not guilty of fraud" in Turkey means nothing!!!!

And lets not forget that Keramettin allowed the 'Hellhole' in Hisaronu to be built, and then denied he did when it all went sour.

The Hellhole that brings a great deal of revenue and jobs across the whole of the Fethiye/Olu Deniz area.  Not sure what is so sour about that?

Haha it makes me laugh that just because something was written against your own beliefs that you have to believe that I am not a normal person. I have been holidaying in Hisaronu for 25 years and was merely pointing out my opinion on one of the topics. I am new to this forum so yes I haven't posted on other topics yet but I work everyday and have just been on for five minutes. The dolphin pool obviously was a big mistake but I think you will find that politicians aren't perfect. Forgive me but I am someone who thinks that the other side of an argument should always be heard, and I do believe that you will find both Saatchi AND Keramettin are popular amongst Turks in the area for their hard work.

Forgive me but so do we, hence even without introducing yourself, or contributing anything apart from this, your side of the argument is still here for all to read.

It could be read that you were implying that only one point of view is allowed. I decided it best to confirm that not to be true.

Fethiye Mayor Behçet Saatçi has been made aware of the poll, and has sent a message to say how delighted he is that he has such backing from British people.

Behçet Saatçi for us everyday, he has not only transformed Fethiye, the Kordon promenade and new town square are world class in my opinion, he has brought many businesses to Fethiye, he's a great supporter of all of the charities and our football team and to top it off, if you get to meet him you will find he's a very nice man.

I wish him well

Keramettin chose to come to the car boot y'day & chat with all the stallholders, except those on the 3Cs stall. Probably thought that they were no votes in it, but there were 2 ladies helping us out that can vote, but now, not for Keramettin

The last few weeks driving around the fethiye area i have seen  Keramettin cronies out in the villages drumming up votes i wonder what he has promised them or what they will get in return as far as my friends are concerned that were born here he has done nothing that he has not made money out of i dont think he understands the word charity i bet he did not make a donation
