Hi Guys,
I managed to get hold of the AKP Mayor candidate and he would like to have a meeting with the expats living in the area and would like to listen to your problems having at the moment and would like to create projects together.
He asked me if I can arrange a meeting but i am in Uk , but my father Mehmet Tokgoz will arrange a meeting for you .
Who should he contact on your side (ex-pats side) to arrange the meeting?
Please send me name and telephone number so my father can arrange it.

Whilst I am no fan of Akp its only fair- as well as common courtesy to extend the same welcome to all candidates if they wish to meet ex pats

hi , i dont want to argue over politics at all but it is common courtesy to listen to every candidate and it would be beneficial to stay same distance to every political party. I believe this would be not to much to ask. so is there anyone here to get responsibility to organise a group of expats to meet candidates?

Hi Ytokgoz thanks for the invite from the AKP Mayoral candidate and your father for setting it up from the AKP end. I cannot set the meeting up myself for the foreign resident community, but can I suggest that your father organises a small venue for the meeting, and you post on here the date, time and venue location, and ask people to let you know who will be attending.
Once again thanks for the invite, and also the fact that the candidate is taking the time to find out about what the foreign residents community is thinking and perhaps needs in Fethiye and surrounding areas that make up the new new Mayorality.

Your point re free speech is valid and well made Scunner- it would be ironic really then to deny Akp the right to have such a meeting regardless of their unsavoury policies

Anyone can speak their mind here /until the AKP close us down Phil - that's the reality really.

Quite right Scunner. And if the AKP can organise the meeting they will also hear, I am sure, our concerns not just with Fethiye matters, but also with wider Turkish issues. One of which is the increasingly authoritarian state under the AKP leadership

Got me Colwyn .. but it was more to do with bed spellinge than religious tones, whether over or under!!
