Title: The cost of Effes
Post by: jackstee on March 07, 2014, 16:14:34 PM
Roughly 78 Tl for a case of large cans.

Back in Doha and got my RP and booze licence quite quickly. Quite supprised how reasonable the cost is.
5 ltr carton of wine 78 TL
3 ltr   57 tl.
No name whiskey 30 tl, grouse around 80 tl.

They now have a pork shop which is also reasnobly priced.

Things are looking up as the cost for a pint in a hotel is also around 25 tl.

Its easy to be sniffy and suggest that the Turkish political situ should be foremost to everyones mind- fact is for us tourists, rightly or wrongly it isnt .

When people are sitting with a beer in hand or enjoying 2 weeks sun with their family on Calis beach they don't for a second have " who's best Akp or MHP" in their mind

Yes, but, if the present Turkish P.M. goes on as he is doing now, gets voted back in and becomes ever more powerful... for beer in hand... read as lemonade in hand.    ;)

Sorry to be sniffy but it's far more important than the price of bloody beer.

There's NOTHING more important than the price of Efes in Calis.

In Calis sadly you're right!  Sad scenes from Istanbul again tonight :(   We will be concerned about the price of Ayran the way things are going.

Maybe to you but to 99% of holidaymakers they wouldnt give Turkish politics a second thought.

Yeah, you're probably right. People with that mentality probably don't even watch the news let alone understand it.

kayakebab I think that's a rude thing to say, us holiday makers who love to visit twice a year, do care about the political situation BUT for 3-4 weeks a year its our rest and relaxation time away from the problems in the UK (of which there are many) so cut us some slack please   :)

My comments aren't aimed at all  tourists, just the ones who only gauge the area by cost of beer.
The area has so much more to offer than beer.

My point is that that the people here are seeing their country and their people losing its way and being destroyed bit by bit.
I would love to see more posts from people interested In what's happening, in the real world, not just the few weeks they're here.

If that's rude then so be it.

Discussing politics, sports, women whilst enjoying an Effes is one of life's pleasures.
Knowing the price of Effes prior to our hols, helps to budget  and generally sets the yardstick for what the prices of other holiday treats and necessities will be.
