A CBF classic - a cryptic post at twenty past eleven on a Saturday night

Personally I loved the quaint rural rough Fethiye, out of season no one around, fantastic, however, I understand the need to progress and build and prosper of the area and Behcet Saatci has done wonders in a relatively short space of time, tangible changes, something that is rare in a politician.

I too am a little torn between then and now - I loved the new villa next to tethered coo and weathered Turkish ladies in the plot next door. But there was plenty scruffy sh1te too - I asked Ian at Kismet last year, what was there before they built the new square - I simply couldn't picture it as was. Reason perhaps being it was a pathetic mishmash of grass, paths and trees, no good to anyone.
Us old hands will always hanker for the old days Loz, and possibly understandably so, but you have to admire the new Fethiye. We judge the results, it takes a lot more to plan it all and carry it off.

The improvements carried out in this area in the time I have been visiting here put Birmingham City Council to shame.
And then consider the difference in council tax. They block pave the roads, Brum patch the potholes.
There are a lot of things wrong with Turkey right now
but there are a lot of things right with it also. I still love it.!! :) :)

An enjoyable video of some of the high level changes and developments in Fethiye, presenting a well deserved pat on the back. Let's not forget though that this sort of change, and indeed the rate of change, is not exclusive to Fethiye. It is happening across Turkey.

Good video Keith, our council tax bill has just arrived and at just under
£ 1.400 for the year we still have pot holes the size of dustbin lids.Calis has certainly come a long way since 1999. 8)

When we were in USA we watched quite a lot of these from utube of the whole area. We were able to screen it on TV so we could show off our beloved area. I could watch them all day! :D

It has come such a long way. I enjoy wandering around the 'new' square and the attached garden areas. All good improvements despite the fact that some of the rustic feel is being lost IMO.

I really enjoyed that, thanks for posting it. Looks like there have been many changes in fethiye. Looking forward to my next visit and hope it's not too far away.
