Yes you need an evisa if not you will have to pay £20 for the old type stamp at the airport. Do a search here and you will find more information and the web address to apply

Is it correct that you must purchase an e-visa before you leave the UK or can you buy one when you arrive in Turkey.

I also understood that it was the case as the e-visa wasnt coming into effect until 2015.

Can anyone clarify this please?

The E Visa is in effect if you don't get one you you can get one in Turkey and pay £20 instead of the $20

Its all very easy, just fill in your details on line, including the date you wish the visa to start from, pay with a credit or debit card, it will cost you around £13, some credit cards charge approx. £1.50  for processing in another currency.  The e-visa can easily be downloaded and printed off.  I would suggest you print off a couple of spares in case one gets lost.  I am not very good at computers but it was very easy.  Good luck

Well done Graham, a big pat on the back... just as well it was not Big Eagle or the man from Kayakoy.
