Hi all
My wife and I are back in Calis in June again for the 12th year on the trot for a couple of weeks and can't wait!
While we are there some friends are calling into Rhodes for a day whilst on a cruise around the med. We would like to meet up with them and I believe there is a ferry from Fethiye that does day trips. I have tried to search for details but seem to get conflicting reports as to whether the ferry is running. We would have to go on Monday the 16th of June as that is the only day they are there.
Does anybody know if the ferry is running on that day?
Thanks in anticipation
Chris

It should be running depending on conditions of course.
There is a timetable on line here...

Yes they run on a Monday. Check what time your friends get in as you have to return at 4.30pm. Or you could stay over for a night or two. We have done both the day trip and staying over for a couple of days.
We usually book directly with the people who run the ferry Yesil Dalyan Travel.

the yesil dalyan office which used to be on the gunluckbashi road is now closed. does anybody no if they are still trading or not?
-
They were certainly trading up until the end of last season. The office we used to book is in Fethiye near to the Alesta Yacht hotel.

Many thanks for you prompt replies....looks like we may be in luck then. Our friends ship docks at 8.00 am and is there until 5.00 pm. So time for a quick drink or two!
Kind regards
Chris

Incidentally ....do you know how long the journey takes? Can't find that on the website....
Kind regards

The Office on the Gunlukbasi Road has been closed for a while now, they use the one down by the Marina.
The journey takes 90 minutes. Do not rush to the front of the boat where all the windows are, as it gets very hot in there. Also, on the return journey, get ready to get off and stand near the door before the boat docks, as you have to go through customs, which is a hut with a window and if you are lucky two men working if not only one. A long queue forms and if there are any problems with the person in front and their passport you have to wait a long time. Remember you can also bring back some Duty Free.

Yesil Dalyan no longer in business.
-
In that case, they run the ferry and they also have a website where you can book the ferry. I heard they stopped their transport section of the business but kept on the ferry business. So, if they are no longer in business has the ferry stopped? Does not seem so looking at their website.
I think we need to be careful here as if it was my business I would not be pleased if people were saying it was closed.
Perhaps someone who is living in Turkey can confirm or deny these statements?
I just Google Yesil Dalyan Fethiye and came up with a page full of Yesil adverts, no mention of closing

Yes Yeşil are still running as far as the ferry is concerned - the business that packed up was the transfer side of it.
-
Thanks for clarifying that Jim. Maybe have a trip over this year again.

Approximately 90 minutes. However this can be considerably longer in rougher seas, we had a return journey once that took the best part of 4 hours!

I heard this from an ex member of their staff but thank you for clarifying this...

Yesil Dalyan are still in business!!! Their website is up and running showing the different months and days that they are using either the ferry or catermaran to Rhodes. They are still operating as an agent for some travel companies. They have an office in Fethiye near the Tuesday market but most of their business is now being conducted from their office in Karagozler (near the passport police office). Their contact telephone number for the Rhodes office is 0090 252 612 40 15. They have a young lady called Emine (speaks English) working for them that is very helpful and has been with them a number of years.

If you go over to Rhodes on the Aegean boat, the trip is OK. However IF they use the dolphin, the journey time is in the lap of the Gods, because it's a knackered wreck which hopefully will no longer been in service. The seats up front are barely attached to the floor and the vessel limps along, which is shocking. On one of my visits, the dolphin left two hours late and took almost three hours to get back to Fethiye in very high seas. It was a nightmare, the waves were coming right over the thing - people were hysterical and children were in a right state. Getting on the thing in Rhodes was a joke - NO form of control. Some passengers had flown into Rhodes and were travelling over to Fethiye (four children & four adults with their luggage), it was horrendous. Best of luck. On the plus side, Rhodes is beautiful but take euros with you otherwise you will get ripped off with their exchange rate.

We must have been lucky, never had a bad journey over or back. Also, if you want to get money, there is an ATM just as you come under the big bridge to the old town, it's on the right hand side next to a a gift shop.
-
Had some pretty bad journeys in our time - one over to Rhodes where everyone around me seemed to have a paper bag pressed up over their mouth :/
Also some returns that took hours longer than advertised - seemed the old Flying Poseidon couldn't do tricky things, like waves.

Many thanks for all you helpful information
