If you use the search facility you will find this question has been answered a number of times.  However, best to get it online and make sure you use the official Turkish Government website.  https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/
There are clone sites out there that will charge you a lot of money.
It's $20.00 online about £12.00.  If you leave it until you get to Dalaman Airport it will cost you £20.00 each.

Although this subject has been discussed at length on this forum, I feel it still needs airing while there still seems to be some confusion in peoples minds.  We are coming out on 29th May, yesterday I filled in the API on the Monarch site, no problem there, however I have had no notification from Monarch that I need a visa to enter Turkey.  As a seasoned visitor to the country, and due mainly to the advice on this forum, I have already purchased and printed my visa, but surely the airlines have a duty to bring it to the attention of their customers?

Perhaps they know you are a seasoned visitor to Turkey? Maybe they've hacked into your computer and are reading about our impending affair?

Back on subject (sorry to spoil your joshing) I am having trouble getting the on line visa.  When I go to pay, I can enter the card number and the 3 figures on the back, but when I try to put in the expiry date, it has today's date in it and I cannot remove it or over type it.  Has anyone else had this problem?  I did message the site helpline, but they told me to either try again later, use another card (could be anyone's) or contact my bank.  I did contact my bank as I had tried about 8 times, with the date locked, just to make sure that payments hadn't gone out.  It is obviously a fault with the site/my computer anyone else come across this?

Sadler have you tried it using a different browser? I get this on some websites (I use Firefox normally) and if I try again using chrome or IE the problem isn't there. Worth a try.

This is What Monarch Emailed to us on the 10 Jan 2014:

Please be advised of the following information relating to your booking:

Manchester - Dalaman on 03OCT14

From 10 April 2014 visitors to Turkey will no longer be able to obtain a visa on arrival. If you are due to arrive after this date, you will need to purchase an entry visa online prior to travel at www.evisa.gov.tr The cost of the e-visa for Turkey is approximately 20 US Dollars per person.

The process is very easy now At Dalaman they don't even look at the paper visa they just put your passport in the reader they have and then just stamp a page in the passport

Got an email today from easyjet (flying in 3 weeks) reminding me about the e-visa though it's been on their website for a while now.

Got ours a couple of weeks ago, pretty easy procedure and if it speeds things up at Dalaman so much the better!    :)

As I am considered to old to recieve a credit card here, and I don't have one in Turkey (Returned when unemployed) I can't book one on line as debit cards don't work.

I paid with a debit card, although had problems getting the web page to accept it as I  couldn't put the expiry date in.  I was charged £1.25 however, and a 2.75% interest charge on top, about 34p from memory.  There was no warning about this on the form, usually you get charged if you use a credit card!

Don't know if up and running yet, but it will soon be possible to do group eVisas.

Jackstee, just enter your Debit Card details - they will be accepted.  Just recently I did e-Visas for my friends and when asked for Credit Card details, I entered Debit Card details - everything went through fine.

Dalaman all went smoothly both on arrival and departure no major ques at passport control with having the new e=visas... Gatwick however complete nightmare on arrival we had to sit on the plane for around 1 and a half hours as there were not enough staff to bring steps and buses to get to the terminal lots of fed up people and so many screaming and crying young children as they had been woken by their parents to disembark only to find we could not get off the plane :(
Title: Re: visa
Post by: Ray1951 on April 28, 2014, 22:38:01 PM
I hope we get feedback on how efficient or otherwise the system will work at Dalaman.  Will transfers be held up because of people experiencing difficulty obtaining their visa's at the airport on arrival ?  Elderly people and people with young children will no doubt get frazzled by all of it as no doubt some people who are tired or the worse for that wee bit extra bevy at the airport pre departure.  Fun & games !

Highlander, this forum is to help, advise  and keep people informed so feedback on the situation at Dalaman is "a matter of interest" to SOME people. Personally, I'm not interested in people's birthday "do's" at certain restaurants BUT it is of interest to some people.

Just wonder have situation where we are coming out in 2 weeks time back again in July than again in October , within this time my passport will expire and need reissued for the October trip as won't have 6 months validity at that time..... The e visa I applied for  will show current passport issue and expiry , but by rights the visa should cover me for all the trips....... Looked on e visa website for Q&A but doesn't seem to cover this one....., any ideas.   diana

Thank you so much, the problem I have is that daughter has a different surname to me ( her mum) and i. have been concerned the powers that be might have something to say as we don't see her dad ever ( very long story) incidentally I have taken her to turkey 5 times now and never had a problem, was asked on return to manchester what our relationship was but they were satisfied I was her mum.
Title: Re: visa
Post by: Highlander on May 04, 2014, 20:26:53 PM
Forgive me raygans but what exactly is the problem.

You fill in your parents surnames and your daughter fills in her parents surnames.

A similar situation would apply if you were travelling with any other female relative for example neice or daughter-in-law

It seems in Turkey you need your parent's name for everything.  When I lost my watch and had to go to the Police Station.  I filled in a form which asked me my parents name and even my Mother's maiden name.
Title: Re: visa
Post by: raygans on May 04, 2014, 21:13:23 PM
The concern I have Highlander is that myself and my daughter have different surnames and I have since changed my name again so it is a different name that is on my daughters birth certificate,I'm sorry if I'm not making sense here. So am I right in thinking that I just put my old name in the box marked mothers name or my new name that is on my passport? Any advice I get will be gratefully received or would I be better off ringing the help number on the e visa web page? And Jacqui yes are most definately right it seems family names are needed for everything.
Title: Re: visa
Post by: Highlander on May 04, 2014, 21:51:15 PM
raygans - I am afraid I do not know the answer here.

I may well be wrong but it seems to me, simplistically, that there are two people travelling at the same time each who have complied with the regulations and applied for a visa independently. I cannot see why the relationship between the two people is relevant.

Brenda and I filled in different parent's surnames.

Someone will tell me if I am over simplifying things here.

Title: Re: visa
Post by: WordBird on May 05, 2014, 11:57:39 AM
I really don't think it will matter. The parents' names are not on the e-visa that you print out to show on arrival in Turkey.

My husband has a different surname to his mother, whose current surname is different to her maiden name.
My surname is different to both my late parents, due to various marriages and divorces.

Not caused a problem with anything I've had to register for so far.   :)
Title: Re: visa
Post by: KKOB on May 05, 2014, 13:50:02 PM
I was lead to believe that when dealing with bureaucracy in Turkey it's usually the parent's first name that's asked for. The surname is usually irrelevant because it harks back to pre-1923 when Turks didn't have them.

In the UK the name-check against records is by date of birth, in Turkey it's by parent's first name.
Title: Re: visa
Post by: Fran on May 05, 2014, 14:25:34 PM
Yes it is first name they ask for. Yesterday at Dalaman they didn't even want to see the visa, as it shows up when your passport is scanned.
