Title: Must try
Post by: Scott and Lisa on April 18, 2014, 18:57:31 PM
We are staying in Calis for the first time in June, after 9 years of Olu Deniz. So we are familiar with the area and have spent quite a lot of these holidays going to fethiye in the evenings and for boat trips.
Is there any places to vist or eat out that we "must try" we are definatly going to moziak bache ( probably wrong spellin) and will be returning to the fish market and the kings garden. Anywhere else we should try?
When we've been on boat trips we have seen what appear to be sandy fairly deserted beaches, are these accessible?

Any suggestions anyone?

The last time I asked for somewhere to try you all suggested the kings garden, and it was fantastic, so I thought I would try asking again, thanks in advance

If it's still going next year - Ada - the restaurant on Sovalye Island - very classy, they send a speedboat for you and the setting (and sunset) is not to be missed. We loved it, something very different and very special.

Turkish friends of ours spend every Sunday lazying around at Ada, Sovalye Island.  They love it there and always have pictures on Facebook.
Lots of good places to try at Calis, we all seem to find our favourites.  Vojo's, Georges (our favourite) Casa De Mama, Bambu (good for cocktails as well).  Eyna for real coffee any time of day and of course, the 3C's Charity Shop in the basement.  If you want to go further afield, the Istanbul in Kayakoy will pick you up on Saturday night for free and they have a really good meal, entertainment and dancing.  In Fethiye, you have mentioned the Mozaik Bahce, Cafe Cafe is great for real coffee and a cake, not far from D.&.P Perfumes where you must go and try the excellent copies of all the famous perfumes at really cheap prices.
During the day do not miss Cafe Park Teras.  This is at the new Marina Park in Fethiye just where the car park is.  There is a chemist on the corner, if you go next to the chemist there is a building with a lift in it, get in and go to the top floor, it's at the top of the building on the roof and has panoramic views of Fethiye and Calis.  Get a beer or a fresh orange juice (my favourite) and relax. We love this place.   This is a write up from the excellent Turkey's For Life

Also, along the Marina passed the Cafe Park Terrace there are lots of restaurants, We love the Shaka have lunch or go for dinner at these restaurants, they often have entertainment in the evenings.
Sundial is lovely, but they will not pick up unless there are four or more people.  It's quite hard to walk to, so if you don't have a car a taxi would be best.http://www.sundialotel.com

Paşa Kebab is definitely worth trying.  Their website is http://www.pasakebap.com/en and will show in English (but you can also choose Turkish once there if you prefer).

But you MUST try Mozaik Bahçe, their Facebook page is  https://www.facebook.com/mozaikbahce and I am certain you will love their friendly service and super food.

I'd recommend the Denizati on the Kordon for kahvalti. Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent views. Excellent prices.

And also

Again = Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent views. Excellent prices.

BUT DO NOT - REPEAT, DO NOT, TRY THE BOZTURK CAFE AT GEMILER BEACH. You will be ridiculously overcharged by unpleasant people. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Depending on where your staying in Calis there are some decent places on the market road now too.  Zayra 2 is brilliant for an afternoon pide or their restaurant on the side street of Cafe Pazzar had great food and very reasonably priced.
Up on the top road in Gunlukbasi there is Seckins, a half decent lokanta where you can sit and while away an evening just people watching.
Have fun exploring Calis and you'll be amazed at what you find
