Title: Lamb shanks
Post by: Janbee on April 30, 2014, 22:48:17 PM
Can anyone recommend the best lamb shank in Calis please? I know several restaurants do them but we have a friend visiting who is partial to a lamb shank.

I've tried a few and the ones I like best are in ........................Meeting Point, however it's a very personal think and many people like different things!

I don't think I've had one in years - the last one was at the king of the lamb shanks - the Orient.

As a person who now avoids any kitchen area with a vengeance, but who has cooked in her lifetime, I have always wondered how you do lamb shanks to order. Can. and do cook myself and they take ages. Would agree with Keith though, Orient were certainly the king at one time. Would love to hear if anyone else has taken that 'crown'.

I always assumed they made so many per day and when sold that was that. But then I've seen good in some pretty miserable situations.

It's not in Çaliş but as there have been a few suggestıons now I would like to highly recommend the lamb shank I had at Aubergines in Ovacık last year.

They have three I think on their menu, one with mint which is the one we shared, one with pomegranate and I am sure a third option but I can't remember what if they did.

It was delicious, a very plentiful serving of tender meat, lots of gravy, mash potato, chips and fresh vegetables.

If it's up to the same standard it would be worth making the trip.

Pre cooked & frozen 7 minutes in a microwave is how i have them in the Uk, so its possible some bars could do the same  in Calis
ill always go for where you need to pre order  them the day before so they are fresh and cooked slow ive ordered them in  Bamboo George's & Meeting point before all very good

Thank you for your suggestions.  We went to the Meeting Point, and our friends who are here on holiday, had the Lamb Shanks and said they were very nice.  We had steak which was equally delicious and it was too much for me so I had to leave some.  I wasn't impressed with the chopped salad and cold rice though.  :(

We got two last year somewhere and they were cold. Can't remember where but we sent them back and they came back nice and hot. They were tasty I recall.

Seems many do microwave them but that's life these days I think.
