Are you going to donate any of the money from this sweepstake, which you are advertising here for free, to any one of the charities this forum supports?

My thoughts exactly, especially as Highlander is also running a competition for charity

I am a great supporter of the Childrens Charities in Calis, but I do feel every social event does not have to be about raising money for the charities. When we lived in the UK we had all sorts of sweepstakes etc. which were just done for the fun and benefit of the entrants.
Also Volkan and the staff at Vojo's are great supporters of the Embrace Children's charity, holding table top sales every Wednesday, acting as a drop off point for donations etc.

I agree with Mark, it's only a bit of fun and it doesn't always have to be for charity.

It's a bit mean to ask them to make a donation when all 1600 TL is being given back as prizes  ;)

At least we can agree, to disagree  :)

Sorry but I am with John on this one. I don't think Vojo's should donate but maybe if say 50 lira was taken off each prize everybody would be a winner.

Careful Nick, agreeing with me is often a bad life choice  ;)

But it is their sweepstake not ours! They are just telling people about it - it's no different to a quiz night or the like - and we don't ask for a donation to CBF's favourite charities when people use CBF to announce those!!

I'm with Scunner and Mark on this one. It's their own event and they're not making profit from their sweepstake. Too many fund raising events will only dilute the others.

I'll be along to pick up an envelope when you're ready. Perhaps you can keep us posted here too, thanks   :)

Agree 100% with Scunner and Mark.  It is up to Vojo and no-one else whether they wish to donate to the charity or not.
If the charities go over the top on this kind of thing they could do more damage in respect of donations offers than good.

Correct Snowtop - and in fairness it isn't the charities asking.

I have tried to explain, at length, that CBF is a community website for promoting the area, not a charity website. We are proud of what has been achieved for the local charities on here but a charity we are not. If local businesses have something new or different on to tell 10,000 people about there is no fee  :)

Totally agree with Mark and Keith as Vojo's help our charity in every way they can every single week so this is something entirely different and a bit of fun for those wishing to take part.

Yes, every week - where dozens of other bars and restaurants do nothing, ever.

I will be there for three weeks during World Cup and would have liked an interest
Are you not restricting it to mainly residents by insisting on being there for the entire tournament
Will pop in for a few matches anyway
See u soon

Yes I will post here when you can come pick up an envelope when they are ready. As some of you guys mentioned we do help every charity who comes to us and we are continusly helping Embrace charity in everyway we can since the day we have opened. However this event is only for abit of fun and as mentioned all the money raised on this going straightly back to the players. However its up to them to whether give some of their winnings to charity or not.
