People are urged to be vigilant for counterfeit versions of Thierry Mugler perfumes being sold in local markets and by street vendors in the Fethiye area. The fake scents are said to be locally made from very cheap chemicals.
The easiest way to spot the counterfeit is by the spelling - the local fakes are labelled Thierry Mugla.
-
Lots of fakes at the market and also sold by the street vendors. The designer perfumes even on genuine website are never cheap. These perfumes are made in unhygienic conditions with questionable product including unclean water. If it looks too cheap it is.
Glad you are warning members about these perfumes though.

To give JH the benefit of the doubt, I think sometimes people don't read posts right till the end :)
-
Her Maj's reader has the evening off and she couldn't manage on her own to the end. ;)

No, I did not read the name. just got the gist of the post, did not realise it was a joke. So egg on my face. However, KKOB I am not that familiar with common perfume like that.. It's Clive Christian or nothing for me. (Now go and Google that)

Burberry Touch for me.

No wonder the Royal Purse is always claiming poverty if you only use Clive Christian. (BTW I didn't need to Google it. The former Mrs KKOB also had delusions of grandeur and she used it too. ;) )
-
Well I am very fond of the occasional spray of "Angel", even though it is a bargain basement perfume! ;) ;)

So does the genuine stuff George. ;)

I remember a work colleague bought a fake Rolex on holiday many years ago. He tried to make out it was the genuine article but we were having none of it. "What makes you think it's a fake Rolex?" he asked.
"The two L's mainly"...

Enjoyed this post and the responses, as Jacqui rightly said, the perfume is industry is extremely well organised and controlled, one of the key ingredients in a good perfume is Bergamot, and this fruit only grows in a small coastal strip in Italy hence the supply is very limited and that is one, (there are a few) ingredient that contributes to high cost. So ........ like most things if it looks to good to be true .... it probably is! Even reputable web dealers get conned, I bought a bottle of Poeme for the Memsahib from a well known web dealer, only slightly less than normal shop price but the colour was wrong, it "felt" oily and the perfume close but not quite. I wrote to them and they were very apologetic and thanked me as they bought in good faith and it looked like a small number of fakes had been slipped in almost perfect packaging. (I couldn't see what was wrong but they wrote back saying there were imperfections but they were not at liberty to explain these). Offered to replace or Full refund, not a moments hesitation.
Finest Perfume unfortunately is horrendously expensive to make properly -- so --- its going to cost!
So, pay the price or choose one less "perfect" --- Memsahib wont have that mind you --I am just instructed that Retirement is becoming less of an option! (Joking, she doesn't want me to work any more really!)

In the 1960's there used to a "toilet water" (apt description) called Evening in Paris. It was so awful that we named it "Three Nights in Wigan." On a par with Old Spice! ;D
-
And so many of us on here thought common old Lavender Water was more up your street

As I started to read this topic the present Mrs Tickets came in and presented me with some new 'moody' after shave from the 5TL shop in the Red Carpet Land in Fethiye. She was not best pleased when I said it smelt like mothballs..... I think I maybe in the doghouse again ;) ;)
-
Im lucky enough to live 10 mins from a Joe Malone shop and am a regular customer my faves are the Oud and Bergamot and the Earl grey and Cucumber.
-
Can't say that I have ever bought perfume from a market (or someone on the street) especially when you can pop into D & P Perfumes and get excellent copies that have no adverse effects on your skin. Their version of Dior's diorissimo is really good.
