Following on from the Best Restaurant no longer here theme... Where was your first meal in the area? Did you enjoy it and how much was it? I have given mine in the other post... It was free so tasted better than ever.... I do remember that you always got free salad, dips and bread with every meal as a complimentary addition.. Long gone apart from a few newly started restaurants who soon give it up...

2005, stayed at Seril 2, our first night out we went to Merhaba on the seafront, then fronted by Femi, (Ian Rush), had the mixed grill, it was enormous and cost around 18TL as I recall - brilliant.
I also remember when you always got a plate of fresh fruit after the meal, on the house. Ah those were the days.

Our first meal was on holiday - an adventurous full English at Sultans on the prom. Looking out to the bay with the May sun on us was fabulous.
-
Hmmm... never had one, ever. Does that make me unusual here?

Yes, most people have meals.

Lilly's Steak House (it was one of the first we saw after cutting through from the Pelin).
Cant recall the cost, as it was 7 years ago, but it was very nice.
We have been there a few times since.

The Turkish place on Dolphin roundabout opposite Meri bar.
It was our first time in Calis on a vewing trip with Turkish connections They paid our flights and put us up at Club E. It was mid feb and we were the only ones staying. The meal was ok it was poring with rain we got drenched walking there and dried off with the big fire they had in the middle.Everwhere else was shut.
We returnned in October again staying at seril 2 This time we paid. we had a hectic week as I had arranged viewings with lots of agents. Found our ideal place on the fourth day. Dont know where we ate all week but night before we returned we ate atRoca. We had spent the day sitting in the villa in a daze and went there before returning to hotel for transfer. It was the nearest to the villa It was very nice and special because of the event of the day. have been several times over last 2 years. it was still closed when over in April . Have a feeling it will not be the same as the chef has moved to his own new place.

Our first meal ever in Calis happened to be a full English at the Serkul 1 about 12 years ago, we'd been stopping at Hotel Club Letoonia AI & escaped for a while.... the following year we stayed in Calis & what i'd class as our proper first meal was at The Harem, food was delicious!!!! The view even more so :)

I'd bet that is the answer to a different question to this one.

Yes, most people have meals.
As do I, as my waistline can testify to. But seriously, I've never eaten in Calis... not even a quick pide or durum.
In fact... I've only been to Calis three times and two of those visits were on business. What the phuck am I doing here?

It was a long time ago, but it was probably the Orient or Orient Express as it was then, they used to have a spit roast at the front of the restaurant, as did the Nil bar.
