I received a phone call this evening from a foreign sounding gentleman who claimed to be from internet provider. I realised straight away that it was a scam but I decided to play him along for a while. The conversation went something like this:
Me: Hello
Him: Hello, I am calling from your internet provider because we have noticed that your internet is running slow and we can fix it for you.
Me: Ok, what do I have to do?
Him: Go to your address bar on your computer and type in www.teamviewer.com
Me: OK, I've done that.
Him: What does it say on your screen?
Me: It says "F**k Off you Scamming B*st**d"
Him: You F**k Off you MotherF****r!!
With my family in fits of laughter I put the phone down. The number he dialled from is 0115 632 7156. I googled it and it is an old scam. They are trying to make you pay £195 for a one off payment to make your computer quicker and more secure. Please DO NOT go to the website if they call you. With a few clicks on your computer they can take over and delete all your files etc!!
