Title: Break in by Huzer Evi
Post by: Partygirl on May 20, 2014, 14:31:43 PM
We were broken into on Saturday evening.
Safes ripped off the walls! All money and jewellery gone.
Dumped passports in the garden (thank God)
Didn't touch anything else. Would not have known if we hadn't  gone to take something out of the safe!
Scary..... Padlocks and bolts taken off iron gates!
When they had left they closed the curtains, gates and door behind themselves!
So had enough!!!!

So sorry to hear this and I can imagine how sick you must feel. Sounds like a very professional job so it is a warning to us all.

I am also sorry to hear this, second one on the Forum today.  I hope you might see some of your jewellery again. if you have photographs give them to the Police and let the local jeweller shops have copies. Thieves always have to sell on jewellery.
Probably worth thinking about an alarm and a big floor safe now.
Good luck, let us know what happens.

It's that time of year again! These burglaries seem to happen more during the summer months. I think they target people, follow them home and then wait for an opportunity to break in. It looks like they took their time over this.

It's sickening and my thoughts are with you. As Jacqui asked - did the alarm go off?

It was our first night and we had been in all day. We
Went to the Kings Garden and was picked up from
The villa. I booked this on Facebook and put my villa name on there.
Perhaps someone is keeping on eye on these sites to see when people are out!
it is the first occupancy of the season. It all seems very strange! Someone knew we had arrived!
Worried that when the next guests are here they will try again! The alarm was not going off when we got home.
The light on the box outside had been flashing we had hoped the alarm would put them off trying. Not sure if all the alarm batteries were ok. Giving it a good overhaul today.
This is the 3rd break in and we have had 2 other attempted break ins over the years we have been here!
We think we are secure then this again. When is enough enough!

Many, many unsavoury people will know you have just arrived, & will take the earliest opportunity to burgle your property, as the earlier into your holiday they can break in, the more chance there is that you will not have had the time to have put all your belongings in a safe place. I think it is obvious that you have been watched !!!!

These people knew exactly what they were doing!
Bolts and padlocks taken  off the inside of gates. Straight to the safes. Nothing else touched. Doors closed behind them! So creepy! Very interesting re the Kings Garden.
Lesson to us all not to put details on communal sites!

It could be Facebook but remember so many people know you have just arrived. Cleaners, transfer drivers, even some waiters.

It could be simply that someone has overheard a conversation and taken HG from there.

Huzer Evi is the old people home, this area is surrounded by hills where people have been spotted looking down on properties, they know the newcomers and that's who are generally targeted, they just sit, watch and wait.
On top of that we have the unscrupulous drivers tipping people off.

Not a great deal you can do but be very vigilant and try not to give out too much info on a public  network, leave lights on and maybe radio, and keep a good lookout for strangers in the area, driving and walking around, it doesn't hurt to keep a log of no. Plates around you and note alien ones.

Stay safe people    ;)

There is of course a chance that you were both hit by the same person/people - maybe worth finding out if any of your possessions have been found PG?

PG are the police aware of your burglary?

Yes, police are aware! All 10 of them turned up on the night lol!
Made statements at the police station. Yes scunner I am going to check on Monday to see if they have recovered any of our jewellery. At the end of the day the items taken aren't important it is the night times awake listening for any noise that gets to me! Now looking for even more means of security!
Anyone on here have CCTV installed?
