Post by: clair on May 21, 2014, 18:43:45 PM
Hi
Me and my family are coming to calis for three weeks in June self catering, so I would
Like to be able to do a shop to stock up .
Can anyone recommend a supermarket and its whereabouts, like  which dolmus to get on
Any help would be very welcomed
Thank you

Depends on which part of Calis you're stopping at. It's a big place.

Saros Apartments are great, stayed there many times.Get Fethiye dolmus at bottom of road, the one that has sahilden on the front,Kippa supermarket is on left hand side just past hospital. It has everything you will need.It is part of Tesco group but much cheaper. When you come out there are normaly taxis waiting it is worth getting one.If the driver is not sure of Saros appts ask for Letoon Hotel it is the same stopping off point.Sure you will enjoy Saros.Try Oben restaurant across the road it is realy good.

I had the exact same question as Clair which has been kindly answered by the poster above   :)

Just one further question, how much is the Dolmus from the top (north) of the beach area down to Kipa, and do you just pay the driver as you get on?  Do they speak English?

Not sure how much it is this year (think it was 1.5 lira each last year) - but same price however far you go into Fethiye.  Yes, you just pay the driver when you are ready.  We usually save a pot of lira coins so he doesn't have to rummage for change instead of watching the road!

Pay the driver as you get on. Just say Kipa lütfen . or stop please. They know enough English for you to feel comfortable. But please refrain from shouting Oi, when you want to get off, from the back of the dolmuş.

Its 2 tl each however far into Fethiye you go.
Pay whenever you can get his attention or pass money down the bus!
To get off you need to say either inecek var - pronounced inerjek var
Or musait bir yerde- moo site beer yeah da
Enjoy !

I've often been the conductress on the dolmus. Stand near the front and it's inevitable. I like feeling important.  We say 'moose eye beard ugh'!  (For stop here please.)  ;)
