This is the new lokanta opposite Mangal where Shamrock used to be.
Been twice now, the ezogelin (lentil) soup and the moussaka are the best we've had anywhere.
Friendly service and great value traditional Turkish home cooked food, pizza and pide.
Highly recommend and wish this new venture loads of success.

Brilliant. It's time we had something like this.
Will try it out next week
-
A lokanta in Calis Beach? How ridiculous.
Seriously, as Anne says - long overdue. We'll definitely be trying it :)
-
I can also recommend this. It's run by the guy who used to have the Orient.
-
Sounds good - we will have a look in June.
-
Great, about time we had this in Calis, will try it next week as well. Looovvveeely.
-
Where is this lokanta relative to the water taxi bridge?
-
Walk away from the sea along the main road towards "Dolphin" roundabout. It is on the left. Past Meeting Point but before you get to Dawn Beach restaurant.
-
Yay, at long last. Nine years here and apart from the place which was near Scarletts, which only lasted a season, we have never had a lokanta type place. Can't wait to sample it, when I return from grey skies and rain.
-
Pardon my ignorance but what is a lokanta?
-
The local eating places - no frills, food on show behind the glass, great wholesome food, good prices.
-
Thanks apollo - I've now got my bearings. I'll give them a visit in June.

Whatabout the Locanta that is by the Eczane nearest to the Dolphin roundabout (name escapes me) do they not count as a locanta in Calis?? Then again I have eaten there, so forget that as any sort of recommendation!!

Carol Bostan had her art work for sale at the Çalis May Fair yesterday outside this place. The staff couldnt have been nicer keeping us topped up with water, tea and coffee throughout the day.Quite a few people were also eating there and all had good reviews about the food. The toilets are so clean and newly refurbished. They also sell alchohol which many of the lokantas do not.Dont know about the price of a beer for you gentlemen who follow this trend but a rose (good make) wine and soda was only 7.5tl!

No. A lokantasi would typically have no menu and you would choose from a series of "dishes of the day" laid out in a heated glass unit.

Went to this new place today for lunch. Very welcoming and service good, I had what I describe as the 'Hedgehog' Mousaka, no it was not made of hedgehog the potatoes were placed vertically, rather than the hotpot like horizontal, hence the dish behind the glass looks like a hedgehog. Anyway the food was very good, came with the usual inclusive salad, bread and post meal cay.
A recommend.

So the neon lit sign saying Lokantasi should be ignored then?
-
I guess they can call it what they like. Just saying that a lokantesi traditionally would be an eating place for workers and shopkeepers and workers, where they would get cheap home cooked food.
-
Our favourite is Gar2 opposite Carafour at the otogar.
Love their soup/salad/bread - and so cheap !!!!!!
-
It's run by the guy who used to have the Orient.
Really? Mehmet- the boss, smiley face lots of teeth? ;D
-
I never eat anything that's been poked Philrose! Lol ;)
-
I was wondering about the poked food myself!! :)
-
Ok I've edited it! Cooked! Home cooked food. A combination of touch screen keyboard and predictive text. :)
-
Just had lunch there. The service was a bit slow, there were only six people in the place. When the food did come it was very nice and worth waiting for.Two main meals a beer and a coke 36 lira good value.Sure they will improve the service as it gets busier.
-
Certainly better than what it was, Shamrock bar, a place for the Turkish barmen to score with the young English girls. ;) ;)
-
Unlike nearly all the other bars? :D
-
Not nearly all the other bars Keith. but I think we both could name another couple that would come into my opinion. ;) :)
-
Yes there was a dart board in the Shamrock, lol.
-
We had lunch there today and it was very good indeed :) Moussaka, spinach side dish, kiyma pide, 1 beer and 1 water 32TL + free salad and bread. Similar prices to Seckin's in Gunlukbasi which surprised us...thought the SiNi might have been more expensive due to its location. Well pleased :)

A Lokanta in Calis is a great idea, will definitely give it a try when over in July
-
Went there yesterday with wife and two friends , very good value for money , will be going there again and again
-
sounds really good...WHAT no rice...!!!!..we will defo try it out in september... :) :)

Just had a lovely meal here tonight. Lots to choose from in the counter with the option of a separate menu. I had the moussaka which was delicious with a side of fragrant brown rice and side salad on a plate. Hubby had the chicken shish which came on a very full plate. They brought a huge puffy bread, homemade esme, raita and herb butter. 2 wines and 2 bottles of water came to grand total of TL 49(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/03/buguturu.jpg)(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/03/ynu9eres.jpg)

We ate here 2 weeks ago, would definitely recommend it. All food is on display,
We had a selection of everything they had, chicken, vegetables etc, mezes, bread, and 3 glasses of quite nice wine for 54tl! Not bad for 2 people.
Brilliant value and really tasty Turkish food, loved it! :)
-
we enjoyed our meal here last night - opted for aubergine mousaka and a chicken dish, brown rice (cous cous ?) and green beans. Lovely puffy bread and chilli/yoghurt starter plus an enormous salad which we didn't touch - too much to eat but really tasty. Will be back again soon.
-
Somehow missed this earlier in the year. Really looking forward to trying it next month. I think it sounds like a great addition to the area.
-
Tried it and loved it will defo use again :)

Remember this place - a traditional Turkish lokanta in Calls ? Well guess what ?? They couldn't make it pay.....
The Sini Et Lokantasi has now been rebranded the Rosemary restaurant. The pides are still available, but it now serves the usual day time snacks and the evening menu is very international. The chef is from the old Orient Express and first impressions are that the grub is VERY nice.
The decision to go upmarket and move away from the lokanta idea was simply because it did not generate enough income......... sad maybe ?
