Title: kismet in Soma
Post by: mercury on June 01, 2014, 10:28:58 AM
Our thoughts are with The Boyz from Kismet who are today visiting the cemetery in Soma and then the mine before distributing the items bought with the generous donations collected...  It will be a very emotional trip.... Good luck with it all.., I am sure that when they get back and have recovered they will be giving an update on here... Fantastic acheivment..

I am full of admiration for Nigel and Ian.

I don't know them and have met them only since making a food and money donation to the Soma appeal but was quite bowled over by their passion and sincerity for this cause.

They have spent a lot of time organising the fund raising, collecting the donations and talking to people about the cause. They have now closed their business for 3 days whilst they go to Soma and deliver the huge amount of foodstuffs and goods and monies collected.

I am sure they will be emotionally and physically worn out but would like to take this opportunity to thank them for 'walking the walk' on behalf of all of us that care.

There is quite a difference between doing the collections and then actually going yourselves to distribute them.. It must have been harrowing for them and I have every respect for them and everyone else who took part in the fundraising... Welcome home Nigel and Ian...

Emotional doesn't even come close. It was a harrowing and humbling experience on every level. We've come back, still stunned and shocked by what we heard and experienced. Something we will never forget. Thanks to all for your fabulous support and generosity. It doesn't end here!!!! xx

You guys going, have given us a better insight into the plight of Soma.  I am sure your visit, empathy and donations will go some way, to help them through their grief.  Just the fact, of knowing, that some people actually care enough, to do something positive, must have, heartened them.

Everyone concerned has made a tremendous effort, which obviously, has been much appreciated.

To execute this trip, get permissions etc and actually visit Soma, is no mean feat. My hats go off to Ian and Nigel.
