Title: Wedding whilst on Holiday
Post by: mattyclarke999 on June 12, 2014, 20:43:10 PM
Hello
Myself and partner and our 18 month old son are going to Calis Beach during the first 2 weeks of September. My other half has come up with the idea of getting married while we are out there. I understand all of the legal requirements but does anyone have any ideas or places where the three of us (and our two witnesses) could go and get married.

The Mutlu Hotel and the Golden Moon do Weddings.  If you want to go to Oludeniz you could have a beach Wedding. My son was married there two years ago.  These are some images of his wedding at Sugar Beach. In September a sunset wedding is lovely.

There was a lovely wedding on the beach in Calis in the middle of May.  Vojos were hosting it.  :D

Much as I adore Calis, i would not want a wedding on the main beach.  We saw that Wedding and I took some pictures.  Judge for yourself.
Although I must say, the reception table laid a Vojo's looked lovely, they made a real effort for this couple.

Hi
We have a beach bar and restaurant down at KocaÇaliş and we do have weddings there (have 4 booked in for this summer so far!) I also have a wedding dress and wedding organization shop in Gunlükbaşi. You can contact me by my Facebook page if you would like some further information.

Hopefully, some of my snaps of the wedding.  The evening was very hazy, no sunset, but a beautiful red sky.

Yes, I took some pictures of the sky that night, but when the sky was that colour the wedding was over.  I think the wedding was a bit lost in the huge expanse of beach.

The original poster is asking about Weddings at Calis Beach.  If in were them I would be glad of honest information, which in my humble view I have give them.  A wedding is very important and you do not want to make any mistakes with venues.
Also, if the couple were happy and enjoyed their day, they will not give a fig what anyone else thought.
On the night I actually spoke to a wedding planner who happened to be at the auction and was standing next to me and I was most interested in what she had to say.

How ignorant to take photographs of a strangers wedding and then post negative comments, get a life

How sad for the couple who got married to have their special day photographed by a stranger and then mocked on a forum.

How ignorant to take photographs of a strangers wedding and then post negative comments, get a life

I can honestly say that when the wedding was announced by George (the Auctioneer) lots of people ran to take photographs, as no one had seen a wedding on the beach before, I made a quick decision to snap a few images.    I did not take the images for any ulterior motive. I just made a quick decision, like everyone else, to snap some pictures which joined many I had taken over the last three weeks.

When a question was asked on CBF about Weddings in Calis I remembered I had some images. I posted them for the person to made a judgement themselves.    I made NO criticism of the wedding itself and even said the reception looked excellent. I did feel the poster should see the images and might share my feeling that the actual beach may not be be an ideal venue  for a small wedding.

Thanks for your concern Fernando. I have a great life and enjoy it very much,  perhaps  I should be more like you and make long and considered decisions, however, on second thoughts, as a Liverpool fan I think you probably made a very hasty decision,

To Lagoon lover, I did not mock the wedding. As said I am letting the poster see images of the beach venue.

Quite the keyboard warrior, although obviously not a very good photographer.
Perhaps 'mock' was not the correct word to use. Maybe I should have gone for 'insult'. All I do know is I would be offended if I were that bride and had read your post.
Sadler has posted images that better reflect the Calis we all know and love, and I'm sure that the photos this couple have will be quite beautiful.

No I don't profess to be a great photographer.  I am sure the wedding pictures will be lovely   However, I am flogging a dead horse here. I will try and explain..........The post is about a venue for an extremely small wedding. for 3 or 4 people.
I am not insulting the actual wedding.  I am showing the person who asked the original question just how vast the beach is.  Although I would let them know that the beach now has all the parasols and beach beds in place.

We thought about having our wedding on Calis beach, but were worried it would look lost on such a long expanse of beach, and I think this is what Jacqui was trying to explain.
If we had decided on a beach wedding we would probably have gone for a small bay, maybe somewhere like Aksazlar, but as it was April needed undercover space in case of rain and decided on the pretty backdrop of Uzumlu instead with our great friends Ian and Sener.

Calling Jacqui ignorant and  a keyboard warrior is childish and unnecessary in my opinion.
The couple have asked for suggestions and I don't know how well they know the area, but if I hadn't known Calis beach I would have been extremely grateful for a photo showing the perspective of the beach.
The 'strangers wedding' took place on the evening of our charity auction, and we stopped proceedings so they wouldn't have our noise the background.
Many people took photos as it was part and parcel of the evening, and others like me went along a bit closer and many of us joined in and clapped and cheered the couple.
People are making out it was some tacky voyeurism... You needed to be there to understand really, as Jacqui was, and she was being a fantastic supporter of the charity as usual.
My understanding of it was that it was in fact a small blessing.

Glad we are back on track here.  I love the Yacht Classic too.. It would be a great venue for a small wedding. The couple could even get the suite that Daniel Craig used when he was staying there when making Skyfall.

as most stated here it wasnt a proper wedding it was just a blessing which the couple loved every minute of it. They were all happy with the service we offered ( organising the beach venue,food-drinks-photographer etc etc) I will post the originall photos once i remember where i put them  :) Thanks

Just wondering if anyone has got married at the Yacht Classic & would be happy to share their photos & experience? I can only find a few & they look more like they are promotional photos with no guests! It's very difficult to work out where the reception would actually be as there are two particular photos that appear on all the wedding planners websites, one of a lovely gazebo on sand in the marina & one a lovely decorated lonely guest table on it's own with a brick wall behind it, I can't imagine this is where the guests would actually have their meal.

Any information would be most appreciated.

Thank you in advance   :)

Thank you for the link Jacqui, it sounds promising, I just wish there were more photos and reviews as there seem hundreds for the beach weddings and other hotels, but not for the Yacht Classic which I'm quite surprised about.

Your son's wedding looked lovely, great photos, beautiful setting, looks like we will be taking a visit back to Calis in August to look at some venues, florists, cake makers :-)

Could I ask what you did for wedding favours and they were sourced from?

Thank you in advance.

The Sun Dial do fabulous weddings but you may have to book in front as it is a very popular venue... You could get married on a boat and then spend the day chilling in Fethiye bay.. I think Carol and Tayfun do them and one or two others....

We got the flowers locally from a shop down by the Marina. We also got our own wedding Photographer who made us a wonderful laser printed album and we had a disc with 350 pictures on it.  We got the Wedding Cake which was made to my Daughter-in-law's specifications,( it was lovely )from Sam who is an English Lady that lives in Calis.  She was wonderful and came and set the cake up at the venue.  Her business is called Granny's Orange and we got Lynda Yilmaz who has the Hippy Chic Shop in Fethiye to make the wedding favours which were tiny jars of honey with the bride and groom's name of them and the date, all tied up in gauze with little see through spoons on the top, also hearts in gauze that could be planted as they had flower seeds in them. She made name places and hand cut confetti. We also got her to make us a large personalised card for the Bride and Groom.  If you want any emails etc., just private message me.

Just a quick warning about the Yacht Classic.   It seems they may have a problem with their jacuzzi rooms as someone as been burnt.

Thank you for your reply Mercury, we are looking at all options so open to all advice & information, we are hoping to have a meal in the Sundial during our visit in August so we can get a feel for the venue.

Jacqui, if it's not too much trouble e-mail contacts would be great I shall private message you with my e-mail, I have liked Granny's Orange on facebook. I'm currently looking at flowers so I can bring some photos with me and pop into a florist to get some quotes, I can then compare to the wedding planners prices and make a decision which way to go. Thanks again  :D

We also got our cake for our recent wedding from Granny's Orange. It was a  beautiful rich fruitcake.
We got most of our wedding favours from the UK.
Favours aren't common here but there are some nice little ornate fridge magnets in the little shop opposite sultan patisserie in Fethiye.
He also made my daughters bouquet. Tell him what colour you like and 3 days later a no obligation bouquet will be in his window!
Fresh flowers are expensive and to hire the wedding table & chairs with bouquets and delivery varied from 1200 to 1700 tl so we made our own flower arch and decorated a restaurant table.
I guess it all depends how posh you want and what your budget is.
