Title: Shoeshine Adem
Post by: kenkay on July 25, 2014, 06:16:19 AM
I've realised that over the last fortnight I haven't seen Adem working the prom. Does anyone know of his whereabouts or wellbeing?

We saw him in June and he told us his wife was expecting ANOTHER set of twins in a few weeks time, could be he is looking after the other 3 children [ 1 is a set of twins ] whilst his wife is about to give birth.
My wife told him to buy a television for next winter to give him another past time  :o.

It's Ramazan so he might just be resting.  I doubt wither he would take time off to look after the children.  His parents or in laws would do that.  Anyway, he's not short of a bob or two, which I may add he has earned over the years.  He's here there and everywhere and always with a happy smile on his face and ready to chat.  A nice guy.

he's a painter by trade so will work painting day time then shoe shine on a night last year he worked in Iran for 3 months contracting but he said he didn't like being away from his family and yes he and his wife are having twins so that will be five to look after, I always get him to do my shoes one time he went to a guy in Dawn Beach and said can I polish your shoes the guy said no then tried to push some money into his hand he point blank refused and got rather annoyed and said I am not a beggar and walked of I have a lot of time and respect for the man

I can confirm from replies to the two topics, that Adem is at home in his family village with his pregnant wife for Bayram, while working as a painter, in Iran.

We did not know Adem is a painter.  Has he done any work for Forum members.  I know members on CBF often look for painter and decorators.

He helped me to paint in our lounge and bedrooms (to be honest he did most of it). His work was first class and his price was somewhere between cheap and very cheap so I gave him 50tl more than we had agreed.

Unfortunately on my recommendation my neighbours asked him to paint their wrought iron railings but when he went for lunch on the first day he left the tin of black hammerite and brush within reach of their granddaughter. They spent hours trying to cut it out of her hair and get it off her face and arms with turps and brush cleanser and he wasn't asked to complete the job.

Would I still recommend him? Yes - it was an accident and I hope that he will be more careful in future.  ;)
