How absolutely terrible - one of the greatest free thinkers of our comedy age is gone. Too much to take in.

What a shame,but a troubled soul obviously
-
certainly very sad, his wife wants people to remember him for the joy he brought to the people, I don't think there is any doubt there. R.I.P.

Some of the finest comedians were/are troubled souls, walking on a tightrope.
it's a high price to pay. He was a genius. God bless him. RIP.

Such a huge loss to both the worlds of comedic and dramatic acting.
My hero of both the silver screen and the small screen.
RIP Mr Williams. :'(

A great loss, what a talent he was. I can't think of anyone who could step into his unique shoes, will be sadly missed.

Sad loss. Loved the guy. Thanks Robin.

What terrible news. As said a brilliant but troubled soul - maybe it is peace at last for him.

A nice post from one of my American FB friends - Rhe De Ville :
"I met Robin Williams in the Fall of 1989 when I was hired to be Julie Kavner's (i.e Marge Simpson/Rhoda's Sister's!) stand-in on the set of Penny Marshall's film, Awakenings. Thanks, Judie Fixler.
I was there, daily on set for nearly 3 1/2 months, picked up at 5:30am Monday through Friday, via a mini van in Tribeca - and taken to the location, a hospital, in Kings County, Brooklyn.
Anne Meara (Ben Stiller's Mom) was among the passengers.
On set, Robin was an electric presence. "On" from the moment he arrived, stopping to get in character for each take, would soon after quickly resume into his comedic, improv schtick. So, so funny.
I have a photo of him on set that I will find eventually.
I recall he was elated over his (then) new wife Marsha (who was on set nearly every day) and his new baby daughter Zelda.
I also remember, the San Francisco earthquake happening during this time and his immediate focus back on his family in Northern CA.
One thing I remember, however, quite well, is that, during that time, I briefly rekindled my teenage romance with first love, Adam (Boxleitner - RIP)
Before the days of cell phones, I'd called Adam while on set and Robin walked by the room I was in, and grabbed the phone - and began speaking to Adam.
He went off on this hilarious ramble that I only wish I could have recorded.
I thought Robin was truly special, gifted nearly to a curse, and so did Adam.
I'll never forget it.
Now, to find the photo...."

Depression...the most lonely disease and an illness with few, if any, visible symptoms. As we see too often, even the most talented and successful can fall foul, with tragic consequences.
RIP Robin Williams.

Tragic news RIP

Just a thought, people still seem to view depression lightly, take very special care to watch over your loved ones, one never knows...........
