Title: Scunnered
Post by: Colwyn on August 27, 2014, 18:41:29 PM

I was listening to a Radio 5 discussion of the Scottish Independence Debate. Someone texted in to say the Scottish people were generally "scunnered" by it. It apparently has the following meaning:

Scunnered
A Scots word used to mean that you are world weary, down-trodden, and thoroughly bereft of any lust for life.

So, if someone makes you feel scunnered is that person a Scunner? Surely not.

It's a word I am very familiar with as I hear it all the time. I also use it myself.   As Keith had a Scottish Father, he picked this Scottish word as his Forum I.D.
I know he has been Scunnered many time on here.

Almost, my name was chosen for me, I didn't choose it - my friends started calling me it due to Supergran's arch enemy being the Scunner Campbell. My surname is Campbell, how funny my friends were.
