Just to let people know that the pantry moth infestation has now been eradicated. For those who have this problem this is what I did to get rid of it.
1. Throw away all grains whether infected or not. Check under the lids of any jars of herbs, vinegar etc as I found grubs here.
2. Clean the cupboard out with bleach and I also used Cif Power Cream. If possible remove the shelves as I found grubs on the side of the shelves.
3. Wash out every container and examine every bit of the container as I found grubs in holes in the handles of some containers. Remove these with a cocktail stick as washing does not get rid of them.
4. Put everything in a plastic container unless a tin or a jar.
5. After filling new containers with rice, flour etc put in the freezer for a couple of days to kill anything which may be lurking there.
6. I now wipe everything before putting in the cupboard ie tins and jars. I also wipe packets of biscuits and examine the packets for grubs before putting in the container.

In a previous life were you a nuclear radioactive waste spill clean-up operative?

Well done, it is the only way. :)

There's an opening for you in disease control in Africa.

I do wonder sometimes why certain posts on here which seek genuinely to pass on information are treated with such disdain :(
-
Yeah, I'm baffled too H. ;)

I think this was intended as a compliment not sarcasm or disdain :o

Oops on my part but catsrus took the subsequent posts in the same way as I did.
The perils of the written word :(.

Just to put a cap on this.
Since the OP's first post, the weather has cooled and as far as we are concerned, these moths have gone away. Not that they were ever a nuisance because as soon as we knew they were around, everything loosely bagged in cupboards, went into sealed containers.
TC ;D ;D

If you knew they were around putting stuff in sealed containers will not stop them multiplying!!! I had unopened packets which as soon as I knew had moth I put in sealed containers and then I found moths flying or dead in the containers!!!

Sarcasm was far from my mind. I am sorry if it came across like that. Instead I was impressed by the thorough and rigorous way* you took on these pests. And, eventually, overcame them. Well done.
[* the sort of thoroughness and rigour that would be required in cleaning up radioactivity spills, or in dealing with ebola patients without passing on the disease - although not quite so dramatic as these, of course.]
