Good afternoon members.
I have been a member on this forum for quite some time now and still enjoy reading fellows members posts, and have over time received the right answers to some of my
questions.
But the Forum used to be buzzing with loads of posts and now its seems that the numbers have seriously gone down and I wondered if I dare ask if there is another Forum where so many have switched
to or are there now fewer ex pats in the area.
Thanks
Shuttle

I'm still here
-
Still here ... Over. Some people seem to reference the whole world around Chimp Book unfortunately, and have forgotten about sites like CBF, but what we may not have in large volumes, we more than make up on in quality, and the absence of dullard people away at FB also enhances these pages too.
Will try to post an interesting and/or amusing post soon, but I am very busy here with all the usual winter fun, like quizzes, eating in, eating out, meeting people, some maintenence work. There just does not seem to be enough hours in the day.

Still watching from afar !!! having a year out back in the Uk but still watching with interest :) ;)
-
I am watching from Amsterdam today. All the travel Forums are quite this time of year T.A. is the same. People are not thinking of holidays at the moment, they are thinking of Christmas. ;)
-
All us die hards are still here, though maybe not so much to talk about at the moment. Personally we've just been busy decorating the lounge - fresh sunshine yellow, to cheer up the winter blues.
You always get a flurry of posts when there's a problem, new rules for RP for example and when folks have family and friends coming - where to take them this time etc. The long termers tend to settle in for a quiet life in the winter months.
-
November is always way quieter than October - I guess as the season ends and there are less people over there, and less still going soon. December is quieter still and then it starts slowly each month from January right through to the summer.
It's also true that Facebook has taken a large chunk of our topics. Sadly many of the photos of local scenes, incidents and events are posted by CBF members to Facebook and not to CBF anymore.
As I said not so long ago, one day the internet will be basically Google, Facebook and Amazon - and CBF along with millions of websites will be something to reminisce about. That's a shame but to me clearly inevitable. Good luck to the local charities in getting fund raising support from any of those websites.
Nothing makes people post more than people posting - and nothing stops people posting more than seeing very few posts. Simple as that. So maybe the next time someone sees a funny scene in Fethiye or a lovely sunset in Calis and puts photos of it on Facebook and not on here, the end draws closer.
After 10 years I think maybe we're drawing to a close - and 10 years ago I'd have been over the moon to hear we'd last a whole decade :)
-
I was quite surprised to see only 7 posts in the last 24hrs earlier today.
P.S. are we still allowed to contribute after we move to Deliktas tomorrow ? ;)
Sorry Calis - we found you far too quiet out of season :(
-
Hello i am still here sorry about that . ;D
-
Use it or lose it. Simples. Get posting.
Apologies accepted Lance ;D ;D
-
I miss the "debates" - can't even get a good argument on FB these days so it's not just here.
-
I see that JH is window shopping in Amsterdam. Need to be a bit cautious with some of the bargains being offered. ;)
-
What can you possibly mean Scorcher? :)
-
As a devout technophobe , I do find it a lot easier to put photos on Facetube.
-

Ah - maybe because you are in Turkey apollo.
Someone else will need to explain why :)
-
I too had been wondering why there's not so many posts lately. Personally I miss slikmrs and all her posts, she was always finding something to post about

Well, do you want to have the full argument or were you thinking of taking a course?
(One for the Python fans. :D )
-
KApollo, have you logged in to Post Image? I couldn't upload photos once and it was because I hadn't logged in.
-
Well Kevin I was thinking about moving from the center of Fethiye to Calis as it was 2 quiet in Fethiye during the winter.
Maybe I should rethink now.
On a lighter note we, I have decided to move back for good to Fethiye in July. Spent enough time working full time and it's not all it's cracked up to be.
-
Go for it jackstee and well done.

Nobody, on their deathbed, said "I wish I'd spent more time at work" ;)

I am guilty of using Facebook. Mostly liking other peoples posts.. I don't have much to say on my own page. However I read CBF at least twice a day. Like a lot of us regular members, we have been there, done that and got the T.shirt since living there and I don't have much to contribute too the forum these days...Most of the members we have met and that is quite a few now are wonderful, funny and kind people and I am happy and count myself lucky to have found them and this forum... It always goes a bit quiet this time of year..Maybe they are out scrapping for TVs in Tesco?
-
CBF has done well in it's 10 years and it's true to say that FB seems to be the social media choice for some, which is a shame considering some of the wonderful posts and advice provided by the forum members, all of whom have done a great job. I will probably be shot down in flames (nothing new!) but some members take great pleasure and delight in mocking people with whom they don't agree. Like many ex-pats (SOME of them) form little groups and if you don't belong to that little group then "yer arse is oot the windae". Situations like this minimise membership.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone.

Well somebody is doing something right :)

Has the addition of a "like" button obviated the need to actually post in many cases.
I only noticed the like button recently and have used it on a number of occasions.
Is the "like" button newish ?

Little groups of people can be formed for reasons of friendship, similar interests, shared troubles and travails and location.
I am sure all of them would welcome you if you feel you need to belong.

Only if you agreed with the original post :)

No criticism intended but possibly a classic example.

Devastating!
-
Very sad to see such devastation. BTW Isn't the Mussakka Restaurant owned by the same guy who had one of the same name in Calis a couple of seasons ago?
