Title: Flight change or sell flight
Post by: savoyboy on November 29, 2014, 15:02:35 PM
We have booked 2 flights  for February school half term.( Feb 15-22)

But I have been called to do jury service.

Does anyone know how much change of flights will be.

Or should we just sell the flights and for how much ?

We paid £389.96

Can't you take your fight booking details to the court offices and ask to be excused
and offer to serve at another time.?     Worth a try.

That's what I'd try first.

Depends who they are with - most are £30/£40 per name change but Easyjet are a nightmare as they have an admin fee and a price difference (as long as it is in their favour) which is also added. Take that into account and current price and after name change offer a 30% discount on current price and you might sell them IMO

That's good - you have a fighting chance then £35 per name!

I suppose we look and find another flight and then phone thomascook up,or can it be done online.

But if we can't find a reasonable flight with thomascook we try and sell them,do we do the name change or
The buyer ?
I think without paying for name changes would £250 be a fair price to ask

Does your £390 include any cases / pre booked seats?

You can currently buy for £370 - no cases - so with £70 name change you are down to £300 - offer that for £250 to someone - maybe - but in your position I would say or nearest offer - remember its what the buyer is saving that will swing the deal not what you have paid - so if you ask £250 + name changes £70 = £320 the buyer saves £50 but he might "hold" hoping FTC price drops further - your call - good luck

So how do I change my flight ?
Can I do it myself online?

It seems harsh that you can't defer Jury service again due to a pre booked holiday if you can prove booking it prior to being called.
If you lose money can you claim it back?

I have changed loads of flights online with Easyjet never Thomas Cook but have always found it really simple to do, from what Marggie says Thomas Cook sounds the same as Easy Jet, nothing changes for definite until you have paid the money for the changes  ;)
