All change at the Sundial, it is under new management next year by the owners of the Sea Breeze Aparthotel, Ovacik.

Just copied and pasted from another forum from someone who will be working there.
"hi guys, I can tell you that the Sundial has been rented out to the owners of Sea Breeze and Oludeniz Beach Weddings. Ezmen tourism.
The restaurant and bar are being made bigger and plans are to open all year round so there will be a warmer area for the winter. Improvements are planned to the toilets and kitchen and grounds and the wedding facilities.
I am working there so I will let you know about the opening. Don't worry, most of the staff are staying - just the usual attrition of end of season staff leaving Fethiye and Erol from the seabreeze will be the lead director overlooking the service and food quality. Come and see me when we are open."
-
The Sundial has been open in Winter for the last few years and already has a heated indoor area with a roaring fire the toilets are absolutely fine the outdoor area and pool all got revamped after the mud slide a few years ago. So I can't see how are these "improvements" are going to achieve anything.
Just saying like....

The Chalets badly need upgrading. We stayed in one last year as it was our anniversary. The Chalet was very rundown. There was a large room with a part kitchen and a settee. A shower room and a bedroom with a very hard bed. The whole place was really basic very tatty and old fashioned. There was a cockroach in the bedroom which Phil killed, I know this can happen anywhere, but I worried there could be other cockroaches in the place.
We were charged £50.00 for one night. For this sort of accommodation we really felt this was a rip off.
-
As far as I know it's only the restaurant part that's being sold/leased with Murat holding on to the accommodation side...
-
Oh good - JH will be able to continue the posts about the unfortunate anniversary overnight at £50.00 a pop.
-
Why am I thinking Saga Holidays ? ;)
-
Such a shame that the Chalets are not being taken over. It is a lovely spot for a Wedding, but there would be no way I would want guests to stay in the present accommodation.
I realise that you have a good relationship with the owner Scorcher, but I will feel free to tell anyone at any time about the overpriced dare I say rip off accommodation.
We also found the food O.K. nothing special and the staff and owner totally bland and unfriendly. So we may be tempted to go for a meal if it is under new management will wait for the reviews.
-
Murat bland??? Bet anyone who knows him would never describe him as bland.... sorry Jacqui.. This made me laugh....
-
Definitely NOT how I'd describe him either. Perhaps he was just overwhelmed by your majestyness ? ;)
-
We have been going to the Sundial for years,Murat and his staff bland ? Are you sure you are talking about the same people and the food has always been good for us
-
Everybody's experiences are different.
-
We rang and booked a room and meal. Phil told Murat it was our Wedding Anniversary. We arrived and after a search found someone to take us to our room. After the surprise of seeing the room, we decided to go and get a drink. We went for a drink and Murat looked over and said Hello. That is all he said to us the whole time we were there. He did not come near us to ask if we enjoyed the meal or have any conversation. The staff we found were the same. Next morning for breakfast, we got the same cold reception, this time Murat ignored us. Most places you go in Turkey everyone speaks to you this place left a bad taste. We decided never to return.
Just as an example. We booked a table at the Ada Restaurant the next year for our Anniversary. The guy on the phone asked if it was a special occasion and Phil said it was our Anniversary.
When we arrive at the Ada, the Manager came out to speak to us and was a lovely man. The waiting staff were very friendly and chatty. We were really surprised at the end of our main when the staff came out with a cake decoration with Happy Anniversary it also had sparklers and candles. We had some of the cake and the put it in a doggy bag for us to take home. The Manager then came out and sat and had a long conversation with us. We said it was getting late, but he would not hear of us leaving even though we had paid the bill. He ordered us coffee. We had such a good time and would not hesitate to go back.
This was the difference we found in two establishments.
-
I agree that the Sundial has the most fabulous location.... we have visited it twice- each time we have had a pleasant evening but due more the outstanding views than about the food which was average.
We have known Erol from Sea Breeze for many years he has a real eye for detail and the food at the hotel has always been of a high standard so we look forward to visiting next year!

If you were so dissatisfied with the room when you first saw it, and thought that the price was extortionate for what you were getting, why did you stay the night? Surely, you could have availed yourself of their free transport home and not paid for the room or asked to see something superior, if they had it. I think it is a shame that you appear to have an axe to grind with this establishment, and it has been ground on numerous occasions. :(
-
You can visit a restaurant many times and have a nice meal but then another time it's not up to the usual standard. Jaqui had a average meal etc and was informing people of her experience. Stop giving her a hard time for daring to have an opinion!! >:(
-
Well said rusty
Jacqui's regular snipers are wasting their time.
-
We shall see. If the subject was on "Just a Minute" it would get done for repetition! :(

Firstly, Nick we had our own car, but I have read that the owner will only transport 3 or more people. Secondly, we would not have asked to see a more superior room because if this room is what was available for £50, goodness knows what a superior one would have cost.
Thirdly, It was our Wedding Anniversary, the night had been looked forward to. We did not want to have an argument on that night and decided to make the best of it, have a few drinks then shower and change for dinner as we really thought the dinner was going to be something special and would make up for our disappointment.
I realise there are people on this Forum who are friends with the owner and enjoyed their time at the Sundial, sunbathing, swimming and eating and I am sure the owner made friends with these regulars. However, I am speaking as we found the place and making no exaggeration. I am sorry if it makes the regulars unhappy. Lets hope the new owner, who sounds very good will make a better effort with strangers.

See!

Yep.

A group of our friends went for a meal at the sundial, and didn't enjoy their meals,
So as you find in Turkey, swings and roundabouts,
-
Murat still isn't bland....but everyone's experiences of a place are different and all views have to be respected... I have lost track of the reviews on here or by friends over there recommending a place to stay or too eat only to be disappointed. So if Jacqui wasn't happy she is perfectly entitled to say so without being insulted... Come to think of it are the usual suspects who do pour scorn on just about every post she makes even know Jacqui? have they met her?... Probably not.. Well I have and she is one of the nicest, kindest and most generous women on here. Always first to jump in to help the charities. Not just but in The UK as well so please give it a rest.. I am not the only one who has noticed the sniping. Its easy to target someone on the internet..
-
Well said Anne.
I want to enjoy the Forum, the sniping spoils it for me.
-
If the people who continually jump in to pull JH up on her personal opinions put their efforts into something positive, like she does, everyone would win.
As Anne said, you all have a very clear idea of who Jacqui is, what type of person she is and the like. I can tell you, should you ever get the chance to meet her, you'll realise just how far wrong you are.
Having an opinion is all well and good, it's being able to accept another person's different view to yours that is the skill.
-
Well said, I'm sick of the sniping she gets too. I've met Jacqui, she's lovely and entitled to have her say.
On the subject of the Subdial, I've been many times, Murat has never spoken to me, in fact most of the staff seem to just speak to each other at the bar, the meals have always been no more than average.
The night before our wedding my whole family and I went and mum had the driest bolognaise of her life and everything else was just ok.
And the coffee is undrinkable.
I've never understood the hype, but love it for the view.
I'm looking forward to a change of management.
-
Whether or not Jacqui is a big contributor to charities1 is in some respects irrelevant in this context in my opinion.
She is entitled to her opinion – pure and simply.
The thing that gets me about the people who snipe at her is that they do so purely for the sake of it. They are not interested in her opinion. All they are interested in is posting a snide remark.
I have only met JH once and even then for a very short time so I cannot say that I “know” her. What I do know is the she has the great quality of not letting herself sink to the level of her detractors on here.
1Jacqui Harvey has always, along with others, been a huge contributor to charity stuff I do on here and I know that she contributes greatly to the Charity Auction as well as other events.
-
Not to turn this into the JH fan club but ;)
If only certain members realised who is winding who up sometimes :D
-
O.K. Thank you guys for your kind remarks. :) Anyway to join my fan club is easy. Please just go to the thread. The Twelve Days of Christmas (if you have not done so already) and make a donation. ;) ;D
-
Excellent suggestion Jacqui and thank you for the bump ;) :) ;)
Here's a link to make it even easier :)

I've always loved the sundial. Great views and decent food, pretty friendly as well. I've never stayed in the chalets but have heard they disappoint.
Still I'm looking forward to a steak and sunset, I hope the change doesn't have a negative impact.
-
Been to the sundial a number of times over the past ten years and although I'm sure Murat is a nice bloke, I wouldn't know him if I fell over him.....nor could I tell you the name of any of the staff....and we scousers will talk to and befriend anyone!! . Love the place....unfortunately not the food or service. only ever return now for the views and pool....and on the occasions that we have given it a "second chance" and hoped that the experience with the food and staff might have improved ... Unfortunately not. I wish them all best for their future but personally can't wait for Erol to take over, having only ever had wonderful experiences of food and service at the Seabreeze. Just our opinion.... ;)
-
Been there a number of times when visiting friends suggest they'd like to go, so I have got the got the t shirt. Mind you I have got to say I am not sure what the fascination is with the place, yes the bay looks lovely, but you have to look across what looks like a million - and growing - ugly rooftops to see it. If you want a better view from on high then I think the rooftop bar on top of the building overlooking the new Calis prom and water features and near to McDonalds is far, far better.
-
Sue as a fellow Scouser I agree, I did try conversations with the staff and the owner and found them very cold and unfriendly. I think having a lovely place with a great view is not enough, it needs to have an owner and staff with personality.
Looking at the successful restaurants in the area, they are all run by friendly people with good personalities who look after their customers. Examples, Mosaic Bahce, The Kings Garden, Georges. I am sure we could name many more.
I am really looking forward to returning to the Sundial as great staff would complete the circle for us.
-
I hope the management bring some improvements to the food that I've found to be average. More than that, PLEASE change the music played when the sun goes down. Very cheesy, loud and repetitive,to the extent I couldn't stand it any more! Looking forward to a visit in July 8)
