So we have had a couple of days rain, and it looks like we might get some more in the days ahead. However, late morning today the sun broke through, and the temperature rose to a balmy 23degrees...... LOVELY. Just the tonic to cure any mid winter blues. How's things back in the UK ;) ;) ;D ;D
-
Well, we're expecting a "WEATHER BOMB" so there.
-
A lot to be said for full central heating, no power cuts, no water cuts and guaranteed internet but miss the Winter days there when it is warm enough to sit out... Sigh!!
-
Not letting the cold snap affect our spelling.... ;D

Well, I like it cold at Christmas, that is the way it should be. It gives everything a really "Warm" feeling. ;D ;)
-
Just got back from a long weekend in Edinburgh. In contrast Bristol feels positively balmy. Tried an excellent range of Scottish beers up there; now back to a varied palate of West Country draughts. I suppose, USB, you still can't make up your mind between Efes or Tuborg.

And as my mothers says - "kill's everything"
-
We've been here for 6 weeks now and not had any heating on so far.
Sweatshirt needed over T-shirt in the evenings though.
Been in shorts since arrival - does it get much colder in Jan/Feb ?
-
Night-time temperatures can be a bit of a challenge.
-
Yep! Winter hasn't even got close to starting here yet Kevin.
-
Even though I envy Turkeys gentler climate, its really nice chilling (read freezing) down here because it's December and it makes it feel more Christmassy! It's exciting for the kids too, they're all doing their Nativity plays and concerts with snow scenes and everything. Oddly, Christmas shopping feels better when it's cold, there's a buzz about it all. Strange I know, but once it's over I will be moaning with the rest of us and looking forward sooo much to warmer climes and next year's hols. Contrary female ;)
-
I agree Lottie. It would not be Christmas if it was warm. Looking forward to my Granddaughter's Nursery Nativity this week. She is playing Mary. I hope she will be careful with baby Jesus. ;D ;)

Well funny you say that, because when out in the sun today I went to Kippa, where they have 500ml Becks available, which is a nice drop of imported proper lager. But even better they are on sale for 4.5tl, that is 5kr more than the adequate Efes... A win there. Plus Vojos are selling Guinness at 8tl a can. So all in all, whilst missing best bitter, things are better here on the beer front too.
Oh yes and the rain has come back this evening..... Still as the Ink Spots nd Ella Fitzgerald sang 'into each life a little rains gotta fall' .... Now that is a great song, so here yer go

Especially in the fearsome Highlands like Ovacik or Uzumlu. My mate Sherpa Syd tells me that the mountain folk of those areas could be in for a number of three dog nights in the coming month or two. And no I will not take that as an opportunity to link to 'Mama told me not to come' on You Tube. What do you think I am... Sad or something........

Top top tip Lance .... I shall saunter along to the Lukka, one of our favourite summer bars, during the next day or two to enjoy the dark stuff at 6tl

I had 57 enjoyable christmas's in the UK although I must say that weather wise, most were grey, damp, cold and miserable, sure, the odd one was picture post card white but most weren't. The last two have been warm and mild, two years ago there were people in the pool in Antalya on Xmas day in the Ramada hotel which is set on the Med and was surrounded by snow capped mountains set against a bright blue sky. Last year we had a lovely Xmas dinner sat in the sun at the Shaka on the lovely Fethiye Kordon.
So for me the novelty of warm and pleasant winter days hasn't yet worn off, I certainly don't miss frost, fog and sleet, if I want snow then I can pop up to Nif just above Uzumulu and be back in the warm winter sun in less than 45 minutes.
This morning while pottering around outside in a T Shirt picking our Christmas mandarins off our tree, I didn't miss the traditional Christmas cold one bit but if it's "your thing" then we wish you seasons greetings, in the mean time we will carry on enjoying the alternative.
-
We rarely get a white Christmas day here in southern England and its the one thing I would love to see on the 25th of this month.Pull the curtains and see the fluffy white snow flakes falling. What a lovely sight. Then later on when the kids have opened their presents watch them and the other kids making the snowmen and throwing snowballs at each other. Looking at the other half and giving her special Christmas kiss as the snow falls on us. Give me the Uk and snow anytime. Just for the one week though.
-
"Give me the UK and Snow anytime"
You've just made my point, you stated that it doesn't snow much where you live but then you are in love with what might happen on Xmas day.
Honestly, I never thought Xmas outside of the UK would be even a consideration, in fact we only ever spent one and it was here in Calis, but now we realise that the fluffy white snowy christmas morning is just an aspiration rather than a fact.

Its lovely on Calis front this morning, sat having a coffee people wandering up and down,
From the car boot sale, looking on to the snow covered mountains,Its good to be alive,
-
Bet it wont be 6tl by the start of the season ;) ;) ;)
It probably won't be, but having said that they did serve an excellent Tuborg Draught ALL last summer at 5TL for a large ice glazed glass!!
Anyway at around midday today it was still 6TL for the Guinness- good shout Lance. It was accompanied by toasted cheese and onion sandwich and chips, temperature in the sun around 72degrees, sound of the waves lapping up on the beach ..... and it is the 14th December. LIke I said at the start of this thread, I don't want to kiss off anyone in the UK, but how are things there today??
-
Mild.
That's the temperature; not what I am drinking.
-
Sat on the roof terrace - fabulous day - now listening to Talksport with the sun going down on both the mountains and Liverpool before going to The Pines for Sunday lunch

It looks divine Ian! you do have the best of both worlds, however today, driving through and out of London (after an early family Christmas yesterday), was beautiful, crisp, clear, lots of bleary eyed, rosy faced, but happy parents and children out walking and enjoying the sunshine. Tables outside of cafes were full and we even saw a 20 metre queue to eat somewhere! I love England on days like this! ;D
-
That does sound lovely - sadly up in the North West we get few of those types of days and many more wet one's but some things do make me pleased to be going home every few months
-
My youngest grand daughter Amelia - aged one having her typically Northern breakfast - toast !

Quite a lot of heavy showers (some hail) with thunder, but Christmas day was rather warm & sunny.

We also went there to see WOTW about 4 years ago, our seats were so high up that I thought we were going to Mars to see their version of it! :)
Didn't get caught by a speed camera though ;)

Here just outside Cambridge its pouring with rain, and has been for most of the last 24 hours. Its freezing cold, and the wind has a real bite to it. And talking of biting if my bl---y dog thinks hes going out for a walk hes got another think coming!!
-
Today is lovely but yesterday was horrendous wıth storms and more to follow tonight and for the next 4 days. Areas of Koca Calis are flooded and I mean flooded.

Might have to turn the central heating off here.
How is it in Fethiye/Calis ;)

The sun has been shining the last few days, cold wind, but there is no rain, so happy with that,
