After 5 years of more than normal Kitchen lights bulbs blowing & Electricians testing the circuits, to no avail, the crunch came this week when every time we switched on the light, all of the electrics in the house tripped.
So yesterday I ripped down part of the suspended plasterboard ceiling to find ..... A bolt going straight through the feed wires!

With my luck, AOK, I wouldn't bet on it!
Even when the sparks cut out the damaged wires & replaced them we wondered as when we put the power back on, there was none!
But it turned that in the few minutes we had turned our power off, the whole village had plunged into darkness!
Nothing to do with us though, phew!
But, talk about timing 8)

Thought I would share this with you. Read it to a background of X files music, or indeed Jaws.
We came back from Turkey in December with a view to preparing our UK house for sale this year and moving to Turkey on a long term basis.
Dec; found myself locked in the downstairs loo. The lock suddenly decided not to turn.
Dec ; found ourselves locked in the kitchen. The lock suddenly decided not to turn
Jan ; the door in the IKEA wardrobe in the middle bedroom would not shut. Two screws missing from one of the main hinges
Jan ; one of the Roman blinds in the living room lost some of its rings. It's now per mantly closed
Today ; the dishwasher door would not open, another screw missing
Today ; took the cats to the vets for their annual boosters. The vet expressed extreme concern about transporting the two twenty year olds
Was it the builders
Was it the kitchen fitters
Was it Frank Spence
Is there something else afoot

Reminds me of when we first moved there - one of four garden lights positioned one at each corner of the pool wasn't working. Nobody seemed able to explain it, let alone fix it. So we had it dug out - ceramics lifted etc... To find the cable had one of the four fixing bolts straight through half of it.
Just what you need, a live metal garden light right next to where your two 3 year olds get in and out of the swimming pool.

But tomorrow, I will be getting my tool box out and start fighting back.

Reminds me of the AI hotel we got cheap off Teletext a few hundred years back. They had a cig machine just at the side of the (green) pool with a sign saying "do not use if you have wet feet".
Worst hotel ever! Flies everywhere. Crumbs in our bed. AI drinks - one at a time! You had to queue for your own. Porter was also manager and bar tender. It was like a Carry On movie. We stayed one day and demanded a move.
Still have nightmares about that holiday!
Sorry - gone off topic a bit there. Maybe a new thred required?
