VOJO's is a family run business.
Over the past couple of years we have always tried to give our customers good service, good food and drink & a good night out. We have had our ups & downs but overall we are very proud of what we have achieved.
Due to circumstances out of our control, we will not be in our current premises this year. All good things come to an end!
But, it's not over! We are currently in talks with two other properties, but due to legal reasons we aren't able to confirm anything yet.
We have worked so hard to get where we are, and you can't get rid of us that easily!
Our last day will be Saturday 24th January, we hope as many of you as possible can make it down to celebrate with us!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank every single one of you that have supported us throughout the past couple of years, we could not have done it without you, and we hope that you will continue to support us in our new adventure!
Watch this space!
-
Good luck and keep us informed
-
Yes indeed - all the very best for the future xxx
-
I Wish you well where ever you end up, im sure you will get a lot of people follow you, just keep us up todate as soon as you can please
-
Good luck & we'll see you in your new location!
-
Don't worry, we will follow you to your new premises. The premises do not matter, it is the food, the staff and the atmosphere, that make a successful restaurant.
Good luck and keep us informed.
-
Good luck will visit your new premises in May ;D ;)
-
Good Luck to you all - will come and see you in June x
-
We'll be there with bells on volkan
Best of luck to you for 2015
-
It's probably (although you are too tactful to say it) yet another classic Turkish situation where someone turns somewhere into a success and the landlord/owner sees this and wants a piece of it.
I agree with Jacqui. The building is not the secret of your success - and the things that made it so can be laid on at any new premises. I have two very sad kids on hearing this - just let us know where you are to be found once you confirm everything.
-
:( :(...PLEASE keep us informed volkan where you and jo will be...hope you will still be in calis...good luck hun..
-
Very sad news indeed. You have all put so much effort into what you have achieved. Well, let's hope it's third time lucky when you get your next place up and running. You have lots of customers and friends on here who will support you through thick and thin. Good luck all. ;) ;)
-
I too was very sad to read this :( but we also will defo be coming to your new premises, like the other members have said it is not the premises that count, all the very best with it to you and Jo and your family Volkan :)
-
To Volkan and all his staff- best of luck to your new venture. I am sure you will go on to even better things, wherever you end up!
Had a very good lunch there today; excellent service and very good value for money. What more could you ask for?
-
this may be irrelevant to this post but read last year that alchohol was not to be served within a specified area near a mosque
-
It's a setback and I guess it's one that could make many pack in altogether, but I suspect that one day you will look back and say it was the best thing that could have happened. This won't hold you back, the VoJos family and staff are too strong and too talented for that to happen. Really looking forward to seeing you in your new home.

that would mean that the restaurants on either side of vojos would be in the same predicament
-
oh right so vojos is near a mosque
-
No
-
i did wonder because there is a mosque in the middle of hissaronou
-
I think Vojos is quite far from it ;)
-
all i can find is 100 mtrs is it enforced
-
Good luck in the next venture, we will see you there x
-
Good luck to you in your new venture Jo and Volkan - it will be a success wherever you are! You have a lovely family and we will definitely see you in the not too distant future x
-
Speaking to Volkan and they hoping to stay in Calis though not in the seafront position they are in now but hoping to secure somewhere on the main strip.
Wherever they do end up I'm sure their customers will follow them there.
Good luck Volkan and Jo
-
best wishes for the future

Good luck you guys, we had some of the funniest nights last year, you guys deserve to do well, We are back in June and hope you are up and running then, keep us informed x

yet another classic Turkish situation where someone turns somewhere into a success and the landlord/owner sees this and wants a piece of it.
I have often wondered about this .......
There is a pub near me (in the UK) which stands empty at the moment. The landlords (S & N) are offering a very low initial teaser rental which then shoots up after a few years.
If I was looking for commercial premises to rent in Calis, having regard for the number of vacant spots, I would negotiate an initial reduction in rent.
Lots of establishments crop up and then disappear in Calis rather quickly and I wonder if it is the tenants that are taking advantage of the low starter rents and then getting out before higher rents kick in ?
Maybe the landlords are not the big bad boys we think they are ?? After all what they want is someone / anyone paying rent and not an empty property........
PS : Good luck to everyone at VoJos in any new venture

That's not how many Turkish landlords think. Very often a property will sit empty for years, simply because no-one has matched the rent the owner reckons it's worth.

Sad news... Ironically we spoke in October about how hard it was to run a business and how things were always stacked against you.... Typical..We will be looking out for you.... Always had a good meal from there.. Best of luck to you.
-
Hi Volcan,
Have you found new premises yet? I am coming to Fethiye next week and would be happy to visit if you are up and running again.
Regards
Peat

Volkan and Jo wrote on Facebook yesterday that they have decided to take a year off, so the sad news is, there will be no Vojo's this year. Great shame, we will miss the place so much. Hope they find somewhere for next year, so, good luck to them and hope they enjoy their break.
-
So,
any sign of Vojo's reopening elsewhere yet?

The post before yours says
'Volkan and Jo wrote on Facebook yesterday that they have decided to take a year off, so the sad news is, there will be no Vojo's this year'
So my guess would be No! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Hmmmm,
I read Peat's post, but cant think why I didn't read Jacqui's.
Must have been the banner advert for the Kings Garden that appears between them when I view this page.
Anyway thanks for pointing out my oversight : :)

Thanks for the update from FB Jacqui. Got to say that I am surprised and disappointed that no announcement was made here on CBF by Volcan or Jo. Particularly after they told us at the beginning of this thread to watch this space!
Another sad example of the FB one size fits all mono culture perhaps? Just cos you announce something on FB does not mean your whole audience will know, just a section, a large section perhaps, but not all and then again not necessarily your most lucrative section either.
-
Well said UBT. Disappointing and shortsighted.
-
Agreed gentlemen especially after all the recognition Vojos got on here from the outset.
-
I don't 'do' Facebook 8) 8)
-
Read a message on Facebook from Volcan this morning that he is moving away from Calis to be the Manager of the Blue Bar and restaurant in Gocek and is inviting friends to call in and see him there. :D
-
I'll be busy round about then.
I don't do Facebook either AOK 8) 8)

I'm neither surprised, nor disappointed.
It doesn't surprise me as I've seen this scenario happen so many times over the years - businesses use CBF when it suits them to advertise menus, music nights etc, but as soon as CBF no longer figures in their marketing strategy (if you could even call it that) off they pop never to be seen again.
Are the former owners of VOJO'S guilty of this - you can make your own minds up there.
I'm not disappointed as I'd never been in their bar and if it was still there, it'd be most unlikely I would in the future. But thats just me - I know it was popular with several members of CBF.
As regards their new place... I don't do Gocek. Ever. Horrible place.

If anyone had WIFi organised by Volkan. Volkan has put the phone number and details of the company he used on Facebook, for people to get in touch with this place directly to get hooked up again. If you are not on F.B. and want the number, I have it. Just p.m. me. ;)
-
Volkan has not, to my knowledge, left Calis.
He has taken a job for the season in Gocek. Unfortunately they still need to eat:(
-
No, he has not left, when I said moving away, I meant work. He is just working as a Restaurant Manager in Gocek. Hopefully, he will be back next year with a place in Calis.
As Anne said, he has to make a living. ;D

Hello guys. First of all we would like to thank everyone who supported us while we were at vojos and also like to apoligiese we did not have a time to explain our seven. But believe in me When i say this it hasnt been easy. One day we have a place and next day we dont. Its been very hard as some of you might know things dont move very quick and easy in Turkey. Even when we post on Facebook about the announcement of our decision to take a year out we were still hopefull that a Miracle was gonna happen and we were going to have a new vojo.
i can now confirm here as well as i am currently working as a manager in a restaurant in Göcek and jo is still in çalış and will be working in Hospitality very soon as well.
As good close friends knows and some of them already said we just like anyone has bills to pay and this will also open up our eyes and hopefully bring new ideas.
On behalf of myself and everyone at vojo we would like to thank you and see you soon in our new venture. Until then god Bless
Ps sorry for the unnecessary capitals as was using the phone to type
-
Never doubted you for a moment Buggerlugs!!!! Know how much effort you put into making Vojo's a success....AND IT WAS A SUCCESS!!!! Greedy money-grabbing landlords have a lot to answer for. You know how much Jim and I appreciated yours, Jo's and the family's help and support when Jim's health issues gave us grief. Can't wait to see you back running your own business in Calis.
-
I have PM you Jacqui for the details.Thankyou
-
Yes, I have replied.
