I note the moves of members to Turkey (e.g. Menthol etc) are much enjoyed as members follow their adventure online. I too can find pieces and parts of our Turkish adventure and it's great to write all the stories of what happened but also to have a record of them on CBF to revisit. Some of my stories I had totally forgotten till I read them on here.
So it may be an idea that is going to die a death, but if anyone fancies starting a blog/web diary on CBF please do - for the entertainment of all of us and as a permanent record to update and look back on. Doesn't have to be about moving to Turkey particularly either :)
Just start a new topic and reply to it with new happenings :D

Well it just so happens I have one I prepared earlier...

Sadly Google blog was banned by the Government and I never finished it, there's about 9 months worth handwritten and maybe one day I will type it up.
I've got as far as importing it into Wordpress.
-
I enjoyed that so much......please add some more!!! :D
-
Yeah but I was thinking more about doing it on CBF

Shameless plug for ours too:

Loved reading that! Thank you. I remember reading some of it before too. Please keep it coming. :)

What would be your thinking, Scunner?
Would you set up a separate section on the forum so that there could be separate threads - were you thinking one for each member, holidays and ex-pat tales separate?
Or just one thread somewhere and one big melting pot of anything and everything?
-
Linda did an amazing one on hers and Johns recent honeymoon to Vietnam etc... Loved it... their problem is that there aren't enough hours in the day... Aww. just finished reading The Calis one. Gutted when it finished. more more!!
-
Awww...thanks Anne...as you say.. Not enough hours...x
-
Hmmm…considering writing a blog - could be titled "buying the Dream". Collecting, collating and reading old emails would be a start, so I'm about to go to my old desktop to see what I can find. Might be fun.

I used to spend hours reading Colwyn's travel tales. Infact it is one of the main reasons that I became addicted to the forum. Unfortunatley I am not clever enough to wrte a blog of my days in Turkey although I have many tales and experiences.. It is a great idea this one. I think that I as many others are always interested in others experiences....
-
Could we have the travel tales back for us that loved them and those who weren't meembers before and therefore may have missed them? I would enjoy reading the whole lot again.. It is a long Winter. !!

I was thinking a new section, something like "Member's Blogs" where anyone who wants to start one starts their own new topic. Could be good and a lasting record to look back on. All suggestions considered of course.

Turkish Tales section is still with us in full Anne

I would love to do a blog but my life is not adventurous enough to be interesting, I don't have an interesting job ( in fact no job) I spend a lot of time walking the dog, shopping, lunching with friends, and planning my next holiday. I love reading the exciting things people on the forum do, and stories like Slik Mrs, Menthol etc with their adventures.
-
I'd mention that blogs don't need to be daily - you can just write when interesting things happen :)
-
This thread is making me very depressed.
I have long suspected that I have lead a boring life and having thought long and hard about the subject(s) of "my" blog, I now know for certain that I have. :( :( :(
-
To paraphrase.........."Better to have lived and lost than never to have lived at all!" ;)
-
Just finished reading yours Wordbird, the aching passion to be there ( here ) was all so familiar.
Must have been harder waiting so long, we hadn't set a timetable to move, it all just happened and we were here 3 months later, very little time to panic!
-
Kayakebab, really enjoyed reading this, there are so many similarities with our recent move. We had a much softer landing as we rented a lovely little villa for a month, which gave us space to look around. Your description of looking down at the clouds from the plane window, and knowing your kids were down there, I can so relate to. It was only in the transfer car, when the familiar sights came into view, that I began to remember why I was doing this.
-
Lovely blogs, everyone - really, really enjoyed reading them.
I think a blog section, where bloggers each have their own bit, would be an excellent idea, Scunner. It means anyone can start a blog for us all to read. It'll be a real cross section of styles and experiences and hopefully prove to be very popular with members.
-
I've bookmarked yours, Kayakebab, for airport/travel reading.
I'm going back to the UK for a week to sort out some family stuff so there will be lots of time to enjoy it properly!
-
Thanks K.. Am enjoying reading it all again... Anyone who hasn't read the tales really should...
-
Mercury = an agent, public relations officer and cheerleader all-in-one. Very kind: you make me blush!
-
My pleasure,,
-
I too have just read your story Linda and loved it brilliant read :)
-
Not sure when a blog replaces a set of posts, but on the basis of everyone being entitled to my opinions, I will probably give it a go. So bring on the CBF Blogsphere.....
-
"....but on the basis of everyone being entitled to my opinions......"
Excellent - love it !
-
There's a hint of Erdoganism in there methinks. :)
-
I have no real story to tell at the moment...but would have to be really brave to start a "Blog" seems such a step forward from writing a diary!
-
The sooner you start your blog the more you'll record for the entertainment of others and for you to look back on over time. Here is the new CBF Member Blog forum:
