Post by: tamd on February 15, 2015, 17:26:02 PM
Has anything been done to the roads running alongside the canal yet?

Yep, they have been drowned in rain and are a mud bath

On a serious note though, we only commented the other day on what a shame it is that they haven't replaced those roads, it was one of our favorite walks or cycles. Then again, we used to enjoy that route to watch the wildlife, but now that's all gone, maybe it's not such a loss.

There seems no movement on fixing the roads parallel to the promenade behind the hotels, its still a disgrace along there and yet another mud bath and for a tourist resort, it's a road tat will be on view to every visitor.

They - not sure who - dropped off and levelled a few loads of noggin (that's the word) outside the Pelin and the canal bridge upstream from the Pelin.  This has dealt with the big holes in those two small areas.  I am not sure of whether this is a sign of more to come, but the rest of the roads near me, behind the beach prom and either side of the upside down bridge canal remain like scenes from the Somme in WW1.  Nearly two years since this work started, someone should be taken to task for it, including the Fethiye Mayor who said he was going to do something about it when he was last elected... nothing heard from him since, other than blame Mugla >:( >:(

The road from Hisaronu to Kaya is extremely bad in places especially at the
Kaya end. There are some very deep potholes, there has also been a lot
of logging which has not helped.

The road was resurfaced in Sept/Oct this year, god knows what they used but it's one hell of a state.

I drove down to Kaya in October and was surprised at how much the road had
improved since my previous visit. But for some reason your post doesn't surprise me Don.

You have roads!!!!????

I live in Ovacik. I remember roads. They were nice.

But I drove on the road at the back of the Eyna prom just today and indeed it is improved as there's no craters. At the moment. It looks like a very temporary fix.

Don, I'm with you on the road into Kaya, it's dreadful. In fact the roads throughout the village aren't great.

The Ovacik roads are resurfaced every year, but due to the altitude and angle they slide down to Hisaronu and Kaya Menthol,  honestly.

Yep, I have guessed this, Kevin. Still, it is fun trying to maintain an exhaust on the car.
